ATL ALT.NET Round Table style event, Tue Jul 27 7 PM @ Manuel's

Hello everyone,

I want to try out a format I've seen at some other meetups that I like very much. Call it a "lightning talk" or an "open space" if you like. I'll just call it a "round table" format.

When and Where:

Tuesday, July 27th, 7:00 - 10:00 PM at Manuel's Tavern, Look for Meetup Sign in Dining Hall

Unfortunately, we cannot have the Eagle's Nest Room this time, but we'll be able to pull some tables together in the dining hall. This should be fine this time since we only have ten people signed up anyway.

1. 7:00 - 7:45 : Dine and Socialize
2. 7:45 - 9:45 : Announcements, followed by "Round Table" presentations and discussions
3. 9:45 - 10:00 : Wrap up / open discussions

When RSVPing for this event, please indicate in your comment:

1. One or two topics you'd most like to discuss during the Round Table.

2. The title of a single presentation that you personally would like to deliver in a very, very brief format. This means no more than 6 minutes, so come prepared!

*** Also link any relevant reading, videos, or podcasts that will help in discussing the topic, or feel free to link a presentation for others to see *** Just be aware that not everyone will come as informed as you like, but that's OK.

3. When you arrive the night of, I'll have a topic sheet. Please write down your name on the sheet, and your topic or presentation title. What's Appropriate to Discuss or Present?

Have you recently:

* Consumed an interesting .NET (or related) article, book, video, or podcast?
* Completed a kick-ass project at work or as a consultant?
* Attended or know of other upcoming meetups or events that members would like to hear about?

Or, are you:

* Looking for assistance with a development topic that others could chime in on to help you?
* Seeking a "change of venue" (job seeker) or seeking to change others' venues (recruiter)?
* Just looking for an excuse to talk tech and drink beer?

If you meet any of those criteria, then the topic for the table is yours, at least for 6 minutes.

How Will It Work?

I'll do my best to moderate, but I'll need everyone's cooperation and assistance in keeping the Round Table flowing smoothly.

At about 7:45, we'll start by looking at the list and start going in order.

1. If it's a topic you wrote as something to discuss, you can kick off the conversation first. We'll stay on that topic for a maximum of 6 minutes before moving on to the next topic.

2. If it's one you said you'd like to present on, then you get the table for up to 5 minutes before you must take at least one question! You don't have to go for 5 minutes, but cannot go any longer before you take a question. Be prepared. Bring your own laptop if you want to "show and tell". We won't really have time for projection this time.

I hope we can just have fun with this, and if it's a disaster, thank you for humoring me. But, I think we have a lot of opinions in this group and we'll have NO SHORTAGE of them to go round and round.
