Dive the USS Oriskany!

  • Sep 20, 2012 · 7:00 AM

Hello fellow Aquanauts,

I have H20 below scheduled for a trip to the Mighty O. This is an intermediate to advanced dive site on an aircraft carrier that starts at 80 Ft to 130 for recreational divers. Cost: $150 includes lunch. Fills, rentals, hotel, meals, etc. are extra.

There is a ~90 min - 2 hour ride out to the dive site subject to weather and conditions.

More information can be found at:

This is the day before Dive Fest, so our plan is to leave Atlanta Wed afternoon, get fills at MBT divers, spend the night in a hotel, dive and drive to Panama City from Pensacola, FL for DiveFest Thursday evening.

Feel free to call me for details:[masked]-1591.

    HI everyone,
I need a dive buddy for this dive. I was thinking about using air on the first dive to get down near the flight deck and then nitrox for dive 2. Does this sound good to anyone else? I spoke to Capt. Doug and he said he can't bring any extra tanks along so I need to have a dive plan so that the proper tanks are aboard.

Thanks Tom, Do you know if H2O below has access to custom blends?

H2O Below is a charter boat only. If you want to get fills locally, the nearest dive shop is MBT Scuba. They are located within a few miles of the dock used by H2O Below. I rented the AL40 from MBT last year, so unless something has changed, they should be able to blend to your specifications.

Hey Paul, I'm also looking for a dive buddy for the Oriskany, my plans for this year's dive are as stated in the reply. I'll use an AL40 with PO2 at 40% and breath that gas above 80 feet.

Let me know if you're interested in diving together.
