Hadoop at Silverpop - A Real World Use Case

Abstract

Chris Curtin will present about his experiences developing, deploying and maintaining a Hadoop application. The specific application has been deployed for more than two years and Chris will talk about what they did right, what they learned and what they would change if they did it again.

The first part of the presentation will be about the development of the application using the Cascading framework, followed by ‘the sharing of stories and showing of scars’ obtained over the last two years. These stories will touch on the technical, operational and business challenges to offering the application to Silverpop’s customers.

Presenter’s Bio

Chris Curtin brings 25 years of experience in building business critical software in a variety of industries including SaaS Marketing, warehouse management, real-time control and food safety. As the Head of Technical Research at Silverpop, Chris and his team look at new technologies and algorithms to solve existing and new business problems.
