Atlanta Node.js August Meeting

Hello Peeps!

We have another great meeting planned for you this month!

Tommie Jones will present

Node.js and SNMP for fun and profit.

Even though Node.js and SNMP are several technology generations apart they work well together. Node.js Event driven programming works well with SNMP. Node.js ability to run as a web server and do normally background processes in the same process helps keep the application light weight.

Tommie Jones is a Software Engineer since 1995 who has gone through developing C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby and now Node.js. His interest lie in connecting web interfaces to data sensors and is looking forward to the "internet of things" whatever that means. He currently works for Listen360 (Alpharetta) but spent 7 years developing monitoring software for the cable industry where he learned about SNMP.

Marcus Estes will present

Integrating Node.js With Your Current Website

We'll be integrating a new Node server with a current php website in order to take advantage of the strengths of Node.js to enhance your current website. This technique should also be compatible with Wordpress, classic ASP and .net.

Marcus Estes is a sr front end developer for Rheem manufacturing. He likes programming and fishing and most of all he likes football season. He was born in Miami, Florida and is married with 3 sons.

Remember:  We have moved our time and location to BitPay's Headquarters in Buckhead at 7pm.

Hope to see you all there!

Joe.

Hey Vincent, if you are still looking for a presenter then I'd be interested in talking about all the hype around Node and MongoDB, and the pros and cons of each. Got really into it this weekend trying to figure out why everyone loves Mongo so much.

Yeah that open forum made the meeting a lot more productive and helpful then normal meetings. It allowed us to cover more topics then usual and focus on topics that were relevant to me.

Do you, by chance, broadcast your Meetup? I realize this is unlikely. But it would be awesome for me if you did, as I live in Athens and often work into the evening.

Bump. Is there any way possible this meeting can be screen/audio recorded?

    • Daniel S.

Is there a YouTube channel for the group? A Hangout on Air might work if someone has an external webcam.
