Podcast Brunch Club - Last Seen Binge Listen
Join us for Podcast Brunch Club (PBC) - It's like a book club but for podcasts! Quick Link to listening list: http://www.wbur.org/lastseen This month we’re doing things a bit differently than we usually do. Typically, one of our global members will choose a theme and curate a podcast playlist around that theme, usually a sampling of a few different podcasts. But, that means it’s difficult for us to do anything that is more serialized in nature, which excludes a lot of great content. So, we’re mixing it up. I had our chapter leaders from all over the world put forward their recommendations for a binge listen month and then we voted to narrow it down to three podcasts: Last Seen, Serial Season 3, and Fatal Voyage. We then put those three podcasts to a vote in the global Facebook group. A lot of you weighed in and it was close! But, ultimately one rose to the top. So, without further ado, this month we are doing a binge listen of Last Seen from WBUR and the Boston Globe. It’s about the largest unsolved art heist in history–it took place at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 1990. Over half a billion dollars worth of art was stolen and not a single piece has been recovered. This podcast digs into the various theories and characters that may (or may not) have been involved in the heist. Does a limited run series like this have to have a conclusion to be satisfying? Do you think any of the characters talked about in the podcast are guilty of the heist? What is your favorite theory? What is your favorite piece of the 13 stolen? What piece of art would you steal?

What we're about

This meetup is for people who's friends are tired of them starting the conversation with "You have to listen to this podcast" or "So I was listening to this podcast..." If your loved ones are becoming weary of your podcast obsession, come join fellow podcast enthusiasts who will embrace and encourage your listening addiction. We meet over happy hour or brunch to discuss a podcast or several podcasts in bookclub style(ish). Not all podcasts are created equal, and the breadth and depth of podcasts is great. Thus, the ATL PodClub discusses podcasts that generally appeal to a broad audience and demonstrate thoughtfulness and integrity in their production and journalism. In addition to monthly PodClub Happy Hour meetups we have partnered with the Podcast Brunch Club (PBC). For PBC, a theme is chosen each month and 3-5 podcast episodes that hit that theme are curated into a listening list and sent out via the PBC newsletter. Then, people meet in smaller groups (chapters) around the world to discuss what they heard. Sign up for the Podcast Brunch newsletter http://podcastbrunchclub.com/online/ and join the PBC conversation on the Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/podcastbrunchclub), Twitter (https://twitter.com/podcastbrunch), and by commenting on the listening selection posts on the PBC website (http://podcastbrunchclub.com/listening-lists/).
