Needs a location
Everyone comes to the Hike Inn for different reasons. Some come to spend time with nature. Some come to spend time with family and friends. Others simply come to escape their daily routine. No matter the reason, the result is the same. People come here as guests. They usually leave as fans, friends and — in a sense — part of the Hike Inn family. What makes the Hike Inn unique is not any one experience, but its ability to make everyone feel like they’re a part of something special. Everyone belongs here.
A Typical Visit
Begin your hike in by checking at the Visitor Center within Amicalola Falls State Park. You must check in by 2 p.m. and the Visitor Center does have snacks and drinks for your hike. The trail is well maintained and marked with a lime green blaze. On average, one should plan about 3 hours for the hike. A tour of the facility is offered at 5 p.m. and an included family-style dinner is served at 6 p.m. daily. We’ll plan to start the hike early enough so that we’ll all arrive in time for the tour and to allow time to enjoy the Inn. Each evening after dinner there is an educational program. Morning coffee is available at 6 a.m., in time to enjoy at sunrise, and an included family-style breakfast is served at 8 a.m. Checkout is from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Each room has bunk beds consisting of two extra-long twin beds, and bedding is provided.
For guests who would like a lunch for their hike out, trail lunches are available to order. .
You are staying at one of the few backcountry lodges in the country and are able to enjoy a wilderness experience while enjoying many of the comforts of home. To maintain the serenity of the Inn, it is requested that you do not use your cell phone during your stay. However, reading, using trail apps, nature apps or taking photos with your phone is acceptable. Radios, televisions, and pets are not allowed. the Hike Inn’s intention is to offer a place for you to disconnect from the digital world. The use of alcohol by guests is discouraged and open containers are prohibited at the Inn and on surrounding State Park property. No trash cans are available and we ask guests to pack out any trash that they bring in.

What to Wear and Bring
The trail is very well maintained and can be hiked in tennis shoes, but hiking boots will provide more support. The weather at the Inn and along the trail can be noticeably cooler than lower elevations, so bring lightweight layers for your hike and stay at the Inn. Rain gear is a very good idea and ponchos are good for covering yourself and a pack. Personal toiletries, sunscreen, flashlight, first aid kits, and a camera are also common items to pack. The only place to purchase Hike Inn merchandise is at the Inn itself, so bring cash or a major credit card for merchandise and staff gratuities, if inclined. Bring enough water for your hike and you may refill bottles at the Inn for your return visit. It is not recommended to drink untreated water from streams along the trail.
