Panel Discussion on being a UXer in the workforce

  • May 14, 2012 · 7:00 PM

We will have 4 amazing active UXers participating in this panel-style discussion to describe various aspects of their day-2-day activities, the good & bad for working with an enterprise company vs. a small business, startup, and agency.

1. Jenn Downs - @BeParticular
Jenn is a Design Researcher and runs the usability testing lab at MailChimp. She is passionate about consistency, loves meeting with users to observe interfaces in the wild, and is currently obsessed with all things mobile.

2. Ben Robinson - @proskweeto
Ben is a Sr. Interaction Designer at Nebo and will be starting at Sparks Grove next week as UX Lead. His role in agency life is to research users and create the architecture for brands including Mobile Mini, Park 'N Fly, Exide Batteries, Norit and Porex. Outside of UX, Ben creates modern outdoor furniture.

3. Eric Long - @erlong
I'm passionate about providing outstanding cross-channel experiences for considered purchases (with a focus on mass customization) and am an experienced online marketer, information architect, digital strategist, and social media enthusiast. I have 15+ years experience in Marketing & IT functions in small agencies and the corporate world and am currently employed by Newell Rubbermaid as Director of Digital Marketing & E-Commerce for the Decor Business consisting of Levolor and Kirsch (window blinds, shades, draperies, and drapery hardware) and Amerock (cabinet hardware) brands.

4. Eric Toledo - @emtoledo
Eric is a Georgia Tech grad specializing in UX & Product Development. Eric led product design as creative director at How Stuff Works International where he was integral in architecting Sharecare having collaborated with product teams at Google, Dr. Oz, American Red Cross, and Discovery. Today, Eric leads UX initiatives for nimble start ups, We&Co and TestFlight.

Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's meetup! It is always good to see how peers in the UX field handle various challenges in the workplace. This was my first meetup but I plan to be a staple at future meetups...
