February Skeptics in the Pub!

Hi all! We are very excited to host Jonathan Strickland who will be speaking at February's Skeptics in the Pub. Jonathan Strickland is a senior writer and a blogger at HowStuffWorks.com, co-host of the popular TechStuff podcast and a technology enthusiast since his first computer: an Apple IIe. While fascinated by the technical aspects of computers and electronics, his main interest focuses on the social impact of technology. Jonathan will be discussing gadgets and devices that are either based on pseudoscientific claims or are used incorrectly in pseudoscientific ways (like the ghost hunting tech). Hope to see you there!

I enjoyed the talk. As I mentioned to Maria, I think SitP has outgrown the space, and we should find a new, bigger one.

I thought the program was a bit on the light side. I think a more focused presentation on how real technology is used to improperly to support pseudoscience would have been more effective.

Manuels was the usual blend of uncomfortable chairs, sticky tables, mediocre food, great beer, and a cluster-f** with the bill.

It was fun and informative. Some of those scam gadgets were really funny too!

The speaker was completely awesome. The room was overcrowded though - which is a good thing in a way, hopefully we can grow into a larger room and give us a little breathing space.
