What we're about

This group is for people, 35 to 55, who are interested in meeting new people and expanding their social network. Everyone is welcome to suggest meet-ups which could include lunch/dinners, walks, bike rides, coffees, wine tours, out of town trips, kayaking etc, so if there's something you're really keen to try out, here's a great opportunity to do so!

There are no gold coin donations required to attend any meet-ups at present, only the expectation that members will be courteous and change their RSVP's if no longer able to attend an event.

Three no-shows without explanation/notification will result in you being removed from the group. Harsh but your non attendance means that someone else on the waitlist has potentially missed out plus it means someone has waited around for you!

Please also be aware that this is not a group designed to make romantic attachments! While you could meet someone and mutually decided to see where it goes, please do not misconstrue the politeness of others. Any threatening or predatory behaviour will result in removal and a lifetime ban.

Hope to see you soon,

PS ...Please note that our meet-ups are for adults only unless stated. We realise many of our members have children, but this group was started for people to socialize and network in an adult environment. Adding children to the mix, no matter how wonderful and amazing they are, will always change the dynamic of a group to some extent, and for some this is the only 'adult only' socialising they may have in their busy week.

Quiz Night at The Hangar Bar - West Auckland

The Hangar

After a very successful 2018 (20 top 3 finishes, including 11 wins!) Team 'Meat Puppets' are back for 2019!! Usually hosted by comedian Paul Douglas, The Hangar Bar run NZ's largest quiz night. Come and join us for a drink, a bite to eat and a fun evening of trivia. Entry is free and there is free parking at the Hangar. We meet around 6:30pm and the quiz starts at 7:00pm. We have a reserved table now, which is directly in front of the bar (the 3rd big table on the left as you walk through the bar.) If you RSVP yes and later find that you can't make it, please change your RSVP to no to give other people a chance. No shows are very noticeable in small groups! See you there!! Why the name 'Meat Puppets'? That's the first question we are often asked by new attendees! So... Meat Puppets was a name we first came up with when we started the team back in 2015, it was kind of a play on the words 'Meet Up' and is also the name of a 1980's American alternative rock band.
