PLEASE if you are on the RSVP list and you cannot make it , please take your name of the list.
We got a huge waiting list and will be very disappointing and embarrassing if there is no shows for this specific event .
You won't need any special equipment other than a head torch and boots or shoes that can cope with water with a good grip and some agility and clothes that you don't care about getting wet and dirty. It will be (very) wet in the caves so bring an extra set of dry clothes and a towel for the return journey. Please also bring along a small back pack, with water and snacks as well as a small basic emergency kit.
With respect to carpooling,
First 4 people who volunteered were Raymond. Fergus, Eszter, and Malcolm. We meet at 6:30am at New World. There are free parking in the surrounding area for non-drivers. Each pax please bring $40 for the drivers. Drivers can you just work out between yourselves how you want to split it (2 cars will have one less pax.)
I expect about 500km return journey. We meet Philip at a gas station by Piopio around 10am. From there he will lead us to his farm and then about 6 hours on the farm and then return to Auckland. So it as a big day. Drivers do not hesitate to stop for breaks on the way back. 12 of us will meet at New World to allocate the Pax with the drivers.
