  • [MTB] Riverhead Social Ride - SUN @ 9am Browns Rd Entrance
Arrive by 8.45am - hit the trails by 9.00am - ride for 2+ hours. No set tracks decided on, will make a selection on the day. You don't need to be fast but you need to have the attitude to be able to give things a go. This ride is not for beginners but for intermediate/ confident riders who have mountain bike experience. No drop policy and will wait at junctions to re group but there will be ruts and roots and lots of hills so please be comfortable with your riding/technical skills . If anyone wants to carpool I suggest you mention it in the comments and see who can help out Hope to see you out there. IMPORTANT: If there has been sustain rain in the 2-3 days leading up to a riding date then I may decide to cancel a specific ride due to the trail composition being clay based. When water logged the trails become to greasy to ride - ensure you check the comments section in the days leading up to the event to see if the ride is going ahead. NOTE: this is not the same trails as the Riverhead WCRC Compound, so please don't wait at that location.

  • [INVITATION] Current Organisers & New Hosts AGM : SUN 18 NOV
DO YOU LIKE TO RIDE AND ALSO GET GREAT SATISFACTION ARRANGING STUFF WHILE PUTTING BIG SMILES ON PEOPLES FACES? THEN WE WANT YOU!!! The current Organisers are having their annual general meeting on the 18th of November to put in place some awesome events and admin structures for the coming year.... and right now we would like to INVITE NEW PEOPLE to come help us build even better and more diverse ride opportunities for for the ACG community in 2019. CALLING ALL MEMBERS WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF A TEAM OF MOTIVATED ORGANISERS AND HOSTS for ACG We want to create more options and diversity with our future events but to do that we need more hosts with a wide range interests, motivation and skill levels ... Which means we are keen to find all sorts of Hosts. Fast and slow ones... fit and not so fit ones.... short or long distance ones, competitive or laid back ones.... fun ones, even funnier ones... male, female, young or old, to name a few.... it doesn't actually matter which category you fall into!!! The only common theme should be that you love being on a bike of some description (on or off road) and want to make a real tangible contribution towards getting more people just like yourself out riding and having fun. Don't be shy, we are more than happy to help you transition into the role of a host with help, support and guidance from the current team. Truthfully it's not as scary as you might think! What you will learn is that you don't need to be the fittest and most capable rider on rides you host - in many cases we actually lead from behind meaning it's not uncommon for other riders to be riding in front we just ensure the rides are well structured, organised, fun, safe and attractive to our members. If that idea is appealing, but you need some final convincing them please RSVP for this AGM and come along and discuss the options with us and while you are there you can even help the current team scope out the planning for the next year. Yes you can make a real difference by getting involved! We hope there is some new blood keen to pitch in and help build even better options for the group. COME CHAT WITH US ON THE 18th Nov - you'll never regret getting involved!! ---------------------- While the meeting format will be fairly informal (being held in the Little Easy Bar) the general agenda for the AGM will still include the following topics to be covered off during the 2 hour period - see https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A6e33bbe1-b714-4c3f-a0b8-e2863dec199b ---------------------- SPECIAL NOTE: this invitation to join the AGM on Sun 18 November is only open to those seriously considering becoming a Host/Organiser - please don't attend if you just want to be a spectator. However If you have some general ideas/opinions/feedback to offer the administration team that might be really constructive (but don't want to be a host) then please just send your suggestions directly to one of the main executive team so we can include it in our planning discussions - message your contributions to either: Rick (https://www.meetup.com/members/76243752/), Vicki (https://www.meetup.com/members/114383242/) or Kevin (https://www.meetup.com/members/94304882/)

  • [SOCIAL]Te Awa River Ride & Avantidrome-Cambridge to Lake Karapiro Rtn 25thNov
In June and Sept this year we rode from Ngaruawahia to Hamilton Gardens Rtn on the Te Awa river trail This time we are going to finish (most of the) 70km trail and ride from the Avantidrome in Cambridge to Lake Karapiro Rtn (30km) The Avantidrome to Hamilton section is on road so I would rather wait to ride it when it is completed in 2020. Te Awa - The Great New Zealand River Ride Highlights River views and a mix of rural and urban landscapes Wide track suitable for social riding Stunning views of Lake Karapiro and a 400m boardwalk around the edge of the lake. This ride is suitable for most bikes but mostly ebikes, cx and Mt bikes This weekend you have 2 options come down and join us on the Saturday as well and ride at Te miro Mt bike park or choose this ride or just Te miro. Stay in Cambridge Saturday night if you are doing both options but you will need to book your own accommodation. (check details for the Te Miro ride on the 24th if you are keen to do both). We will also have a go at riding around the Avantidrome ...this could be before or after the ride depending how many are interested. I will update you once i have numbers confirmed. Bring: lunch/repair kit/tube/ rain jacket/money for coffee etc Avantidrome If you’ve never ridden on the Avantidrome and want to give it a try, then yes, absolutley, you can Have-a-Go! They offer introductory sessions to give anyone the chance to have a go at track cycling. This could be your first ever go on a velodrome and can be a one-off taster session to see if it’s for you; maybe the start of your process to gaining full track accreditation, or just something that you want to tick off your bucket list so to speak. This will be a cost of $25 ...so let me know if you are keen and I will book us in. If you are keen then please bring the following: -T-shirt or top that has sleeves which cover your shoulders (no singlets please) -Comfortable shorts or tights. Bike pants are a good idea if you have them, but not required -Covered shoes, suitable for riding -Water bottle (yes, it is thirsty work!) Meeting point Avantidrome at 1030am. 15 Hanlin Road, Cambridge If you want to stay in Cambridge the night before or need a lift then please place in the comments below. Any questions please Pm me.
