Learn Sing Ong Tai Chi
Come and join a dedicated group of tai chi enthusiasts at Sing Ong Tai Chi Ponsonby, where we are dedicated to the thorough study and quality tuition of Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. Sing Ong Tai Chi is a great way to relax and do your daily exercise. It maintains good health and youthfulness. It's easy on the joints and can be adapted to suit any level of fitness and ability. It is also great for improving posture and recovering from a wide variety of back, knee, hip, neck & other injuries Generally our classes are split into two halves: in the first half, we practice two sets of exercises which are designed to relax the joints and tendons, as well as learn the fundamentals of the form. The second half is dedicated to the learning a number of tai chi forms, beginning with the 42, or universal form. More advanced students will also work on learning the the application of push-hands. We do charge for our classes (between $9-$12 a class, depending on how many you intend to come to a week), however we encourage anybody to come and try out a class first.

What we're about

The Sing Ong Tai Chi meetup in Ponsonby is for anyone who is interested in the flowing and sophisticated martial art of Tai Chi Chuan. If you have a history of chronic injury, are looking for an alternative form of exercise, or are simply intrigued in what Tai Chi Chuan is all about, then you're welcome to come along.

Tai Chi Chuan is well known for being good for your health; its soft and precise movements promote joint and muscle health, and can help improve posture. It is also an excellent way to encourage mindfulness, relaxation and general wellbeing. What is often overlooked is that Tai Chi is a potent martial art in its own right. It offers a safe and non-aggressive alternative for self-defence, utilising skill and accuracy to overcome brute-force and aggression with no risk of injury from training.
