Disaster WordPress lightning talks

Details
We're introducing themed lightning talks! This month's theme is "My WordPress disaster - how I found myself in trouble and how I recovered". You can talk about the problems you had with content, a plugin, your server, design or development. Anything that caused you trouble, and most importantly, taught you a valuable lesson.
For those not familiar, a "lightning" talk (as the name might imply) is a talk delivered in about 5 minutes. If you have a relevant topic you'd like to share with the group, this is a great opportunity to do so.
It's important to note that it does not have to be a development-related talk. Topics related to business, marketing, entrepreneurship, design, content strategy, publishing, or really anything that the average WordPress meetup group might find interesting...are all more than welcome.
We're aiming to have about 5-6 talks, which will give speakers time for about a 5-12 minute presentation with room for a brief round of questions each, along with our usual networking and social time.
If you're interested in speaking, please get in touch with the organisers by sending a message over Meetup.com. It's totally fine if you have never spoken at a meetup before (actually we encourage new speakers to get involved!).

WE WANT YOU! To speak at our next WordPress meetup
Yes! Below are some topics, but we'd always love to hear insights, showcases and other people's opinions throughout the year! Reach out - let's make it work!
WordPress is incredibly inclusive, so if you want to talk on a topic you are passionate about, pitch it to us. If you can't think of a topic - here are a few to get you started:
-
Google Search Console 101
-
Making the Case for Web Accessibility
-
How to GIT better
-
Training clients/users to use WordPress
-
How I use WordPress (we can do it on an interview basis - we ask you questions, you answer with or without slides)
-
Showcase your latest WordPress project

New sponsors - Thank you!
This year we have some great new sponsors helping the WordPress Auckland meetup. These two local companies are working within the WordPress and web sectors in New Zealand and are just rocking it, they provide us with pizzas and drinks at our meetups.
WP NET (https://wpnet.nz/)
Managed WordPress Hosting & Support based in NZ with local support from WordPress Experts, in-fact earlier this year Gavin Botica from WP Net shared some tips from 10 years of working with WordPress at a previous meetup (https://www.meetup.com/Auckland-WordPress-Users/events/233269966/).
IWANTMYNAME (http://iwantmyname.com/)
"Painless domain management". A locally owned and supported domain registrar. A brilliant local platform for all domain management registering needs.
FUTURELAB (http://futurelab.co.nz)

Venue
GridAKL are awesome and are consistently sponsoring our meetup venue, so we are in the same, beautiful place. Thanks @GridAKL and @ATEED
Auckland Central @ GridAKL (capacity 100 attendees). Public / roadside parking within 5 minute walk in Wynyard Quarter. There are roadworks ongoing around this area so bear that in mind when planning your journey.
There is no alcohol license at GridAKL, so we can all head down to the pub (Jack Tar) straight after the Meetup.
GridAKL can run multiple meetups on the same night - double check you're at the right meetup space, there is a chalkboard with directions as you walk in the main door.

Want to speak or suggest a topic?
We are always looking for speakers. Normally a 20-30 minute timeslot with questions, it's a rewarding chance to share your experience and knowledge in an open-community of like-minded people.
More information can be found on our Speaking at our Meetup page (https://www.meetup.com/Auckland-WordPress-Users/pages/20850801/Speaking_at_our_meetup/).

First time attending a Meetup?
If you haven't attended a WordPress Meetup before, bring a friend along and join us to meet and mingle with other WordPress bloggers, developers, agencies, students and community members.
We are a welcoming bunch of individuals who use WordPress in a range of different ways, so there are always good feedback and conversations happening.
