What we're about

Welcome to Aurora Ambles, a growing network of walking and hiking enthusiasts who value the 2-3 mile per hour pace. Together, we slow down, explore, grow, connect, learn, and heal through a variety of walking trips and events across Aurora in Colorado. So what does it mean to "amble"? Ambling is simply "the enjoyment of walking from place to place, sometimes without direction, goals, destinations."

Aurora Ambles is a network of the Walk2Connect Cooperative, a walking platform for people, places, and community. Aurora Amble walk are hosted by certified Walking Movement Leaders who have completed our 2-hour walk leader training. We feature free 'same place, same time' weekly walks as well as various free/low-cost program trips. Visit www.walk2connect.com/events for a full schedule of walking programs, events, and select partner activities. Its important to know that we encourage our walking leaders to reach out with flyers, word of mouth, and other forms of invitation. More than not, the meetups shown (especially the weekly or monthly) have more people in attendance vs what is shown on the Meetup.

The Walk2Connect Cooperative is committed to offering positive, safe, and adventurous experiences on foot for folks of all ages and abilities. We are people-first organization and we do the best we can to make sure everyone is comfortable and feeling connected. Making time to put one foot in front of the other for at least 30 min a day is a proven method to combat depression, decrease blood pressure, calm the mind, reduce anxiety and so much more.

Please feel free to message our leaders if you have ANY questions!

Schedule & Parking: We will meet at 8:30 am just outside the front doors of the Aurora Central Library. There is plenty of parking in the lot. We’ll introduce ourselves, and answer questions before the walk. Please plan to arrive slightly before 8:30 am as we will leave NO LATER than 8:35 am. We should be done walking no later than 10:30 am, usually by 10:00! The library opens at 8, so the restroom will be available before the walk starts. Trip Notes: - Dogs welcome: We will be walking a loop going back to our starting location. Please consider whether your dog can handle 4 miles when walking in this season and insure that your dog is calm, well behaved and MUST stay leashed. Please be sure to bring baggies. - There is only one restroom, at the library, and it will be available before and after our walk, as the library opens at 8. - Consider bringing: comfortable socks & shoes, light backpack w/ plenty of water and snacks, layers appropriate for temperature and weather, sunglasses or hat and sunscreen as there is not much shade on the path. Do bring a camera, we often see wildlife (rumor has it a bald eagle frequents the route). Welcome Waivers: Please fill out the online “Welcome Waiver” or download, print, sign and turn in a hard copy if this will be your first Walk2Connect walking experience this year. If this is your first time walking with this trip leader, please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to connect and learn more about the walk. RSVP: You can RSVP one of two ways 1) Here on Meetup or 2) Texting Robin at 7 two zero - three 4 one - two two 95. If you RSVP here on Meetup, when I cancel a walk you will get an email notification that I have done so. Be sure to check your email for a cancellation notice. You are welcome to text me in the morning to check status or confirm the walk is going. But remember, no news is good news. We go unless otherwise notified. A little weather does not bother me, and I love walking in the rain, but bitter cold and wind does not make for a fun walk.
