Overview of Apache NiFi

In this talk, Robert Chong will give us an overview of Apache NiFi

Rob has been active with the Austin ACM Chapter over the last few years and is currently the Vice-Chair. He holds both Undergrad and Graduate Degrees in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin where he studied Adaptive Control. However, his day-to-day work as a Principal Data Scientist is focused on real-time anomaly and fault detection.

Abstract:

With the wide spread proliferation of the Internet of Things (i.e., Smart Devices), real-time, streaming technologies are taking center stage with respect to systems and applicable algorithms. Within this talk, I plan to discuss a new Data Platform called NiFi. NiFi was originally created by the NSA (yes, you read that right...the National Security Agency) and contributed back to the Open Source Community in 2014 through the technology transfer program.

I plan to give a high-level introduction to NiFi as well as how it relates to other real-time technologies. We will also go through some interesting use-cases, and if time permits, build a streaming application from end-to-end
