Have you ever wanted to design a board game? Or seen a cool game on a store shelf and said to yourself, "I wonder how they came up with that?"
ABGD&P is a board and card game incubator and social club, where playful yet deadly serious game designers and board game enthusiasts meet to explore and test board game mechanics, themes, playing styles and everything in between. Whether you've tinkered with a game idea, pitched and published games, or are passionate about sharing your insights to help make good projects better, we'd love to help you refine your ideas and make you a better game player in the process.
Tabletop Simulator is the go-to digital platform most game designers and publishers use to test games online, and a great way for board game enthusiasts to get a chance to play new games in development. In this session, we'll spend the first half hour focused on the player experience of TTS, then do a deeper dive into digital tools for designers to help bring your game to the virtual table.
Part 1: 7:00 - 7:30 CST Playtesters will learn how to use Table Top Simulator (the go-to digital playing platform for most game designers and publishers) and also learn about groups where they can get involved, including how to be included in publisher pre-releases and Kickstarter previews.
Part 2: 7:30 - 9:00 CST Designers and the design-curious can stick around to look under the hood. We will take a sample project full-cycle, from designing cards in an Excel file and generating components in prototyping software to uploading your digital assets and bringing it all together in something you can play online.
