UPDATE FRIDAY 3/20: Because of the certain rain prediction at this time for Saturday, we may cancel. I will post here, and also individually try to reach everybody. I will make that decision no later than 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Since this is the Hill Country in early spring, the weather guessers may be completely wrong and there's no rain at all, which is why I'm waiting to make the decision.

This is an early event since the farmers market shuts down at 1 p.m. Please be prepared to serve to the public at 11:30, and to finish by 1 p.m.-ish. (Take as long as you need tearing down and packing, no pressure to exit.)

Cook ahead, any contents, panel judging for cash prizes.

Two gallons minimum.

It's outdoors. Since the cook-off is so short, there should not be a problem keeping your chili warm, but I'll have a fast, high-heat gas stove if you need a warm-up. Feel free to bring your own gas stove or wood/charcoal stove. There may be a 220v electrical connection, but cord connections are not guaranteed -- plan for not having electricity.

Entry fee is $10.00, which goes into the prize pot for 50/30/20 cash split among top three finishers. Enter by paying with credit card through Meetup on this site, or email me to request a paper entry form to be returned with your check, or just pay me cash when you see me and I'll sign you up on the spot.

Eight-foot folding tables provided, feel free to bring your own pop-up canopy or booth. Suitable for all ages, friendly pets OK, no public consumption of alcohol.

Judging turn-in at noon, with judging based on:

• aroma

• visual appearance (presentation)

• taste

• after-taste.

• Tie-breaker if needed is booth/costume/decorations (no strict theme, but farmers and farming is an obvious starting point.)
