Filipino Kamayan Dinner Experience
Join us for a unique feast! A kamayan dinner is a Filipino feast in which you eat unimaginable amounts of food off banana leaves at a communal table, without any utensils. Usually for special events & parties! The Menu Welcome drink upon arrival - see above statement regarding "party"! Served family style, Be More Pacific‘s Kamayan Experience features new, non-menu special items like Grilled Stuffed Squid and Whole Fried Tilapia, and other Filipino staples like lumpia, longganisa sausage, “drunken” shrimp served atop steamed white rice, banana leaves and edible flowers. Specials will be available based on seasonality and supply. Be More Pacific started in a rented food truck in March 2011 during SXSW. Mark Pascual, Giovan Cuchapin, Kristine Luna and Tony Dominguez sacrificed their weekends on a hunch that Filipino Food would be welcomed into the mainstream culinary landscape. Chef Salvador aka “Buddy” was born in California. He moved to the Phillippines when he was 3 and lived in the PI for 14 years, until moving back to Houston in 2013. He authenticates the BMP menu! ● kamayan style (meaning "with hands," from the Filipino "kamay" = "hand"). ● This Filipino tradition of eating originated from the Philippine military, where a big pile of food is served in the middle of a really long table in a mess hall where every hungry soldier eats with their hands, symbolizing camaraderie, brotherhood and equality. ● Traditionally, Filipinos eat food with bare hands. It is a centuries old practice, and it is still practiced in Filipino households today. Feel free to arrive early and have a pre-dinner drink. We will be seated promptly at 7. Please plan to arrive at or before 6:45pm. Payment is due upon RSVP. Payment includes event, menu as described above, space rental, tax, tip and fees. Additional food and/or drinks on individual bills. Refunds for cancellations will be honored until 5pm 04/17/18 only. By signing up for this event, you agree to release this group and all involved from any and all liability. IF THIS EVENT SELLS OUT AND YOU WISH TO BE ON A WAITING LIST, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT - IF THE RESTAURANT IS ABLE TO ADD MORE GUESTS, I WILL LET YOU KNOW IN ORDER. Cheers! Barbara
