What we're about
This group is operated by Sweet Adelines International Austin Harmony Chapter 10/26/2021.
The Austin Harmony Chorus (AH!) is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an independent, non-profit music education association dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of four part harmony singing for women of all ages around the world. The purpose of this organization is to educate members in the art of singing a cappella music, barbershop style.
Before a potential visitor attends their first rehearsal, they must be voice placed by the Director or designee (this is not an audition). This will be done on Zoom so that rehearsal time may be devoted to improvement of our musical product. The Meetup Coordinator (DJ at firstname.lastname@example.org) will coordinate between the visitor and the person(s) doing the voice-placement/orientation to establish a date/time for the Zoom meeting.
We encourage you to join us at one of our rehearsals, held on Monday nights from 6:30-9:30 at The Memorial United Methodist Church at 6100 Berkman Drive. Plenty of free parking is available around the church. If you'd like the full Barbershop experience, please get voice-placed several days before the rehearsal so you can join us in song!
The Austin Harmony Chorus is a group of Austin area women committed to sharing the barbershop musical art form with a wide variety of audiences, while enjoying the camaraderie of the group and a dedication to quality singing.
The Austin Harmony Chorus members are committed to learning as much as they can about the art of barbershop singing, through great coaching and direction, while exploring a variety of musical styles. The Austin Harmony Chorus will become the best that it can be through a focus on quality singing and a dedication to excellence.
FRIENDSHIP AND FUN
The Austin Harmony Chorus will ensure that rehearsals are fun, and that members enjoy the sisterhood and relationships that develop through shared vision and effort. The Austin Harmony Chorus members realize that shared goals can only be reached through individual member commitment; therefore, each member will work on personal musical growth while supporting the needs of the chorus as a whole.
