In today's world data database professionals have to look beyond traditional RDBMS platforms and pick the right backend that meets the needs of the business. What the business is typically asking for is elasticity, scale, and resiliency, which align with their cloud initiatives. Inevitably all paths lead to a polyglot.

This talk will focus on the practices and learnings at HomeAway. We will go over the technologies that we use (Cassandra, MongoDB, Elastisearch, Neo4j, Redis), the use cases that power each technologies, and how we power each of these technologies through automation.
