What we're about
I aim to create a community of people who are interested in being active participants in their own health through the sharing and learning of Qigong (Chi Kung) for health, happiness and longevity. This venue will provide an opportunity for you to learn about Qigong and and to build social relationships with other like minded people. Members will benefit from the group support offered from a group practice and from the mutual sharing of knowledge and information of Qigong.
This Meetup is for anyone interested in Qigong, whether you have done Qigong before or you are new to it. We will practice some simple Qigong forms (exercises) together. It's not necessary to have done any Qigong before in order to participate as there will be experienced Qigong teachers leading the forms.
What is Qigong?
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.
The word Qigong (Chi Kung) is made up of two Chinese words. Qi is pronounced chee and is usually translated to mean the life force that flows through all things in the universe.
The second word, Gong, pronounced gung, means accomplishment, or skill that is cultivated through steady practice. Together, Qigong (Chi Kung) means cultivating energy, it is a system practiced for health maintenance, healing and increasing vitality.
