Ahoy, shipmates!
This is the first training day 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (note the entrance, and commuting details)
Even if you did not come to the orientation on 7/20 and won't stick for the duration of the program, but have maritime interest and never been on Elissa, the official Tall Ship of State of Texas, or any other tall ships before, come that Saturday on the 8/3
On that day you train on the ship areas normally closed to the public, will learn the rope-work and even climb the training yard to loose/furl a training sail, if desired. The returning crew will be climbing on the rig for their recertification.
It would be a hot, but fun and interesting experience, and afterwards you could chill down with a can of cold Elissa branded beer and chat with the Port Captain, Bosun, and other Elissa volunteers.
No fee, no experience is necessary, it is "free" (you pay the gas). Come as you are, learn and have fun under the sun!
When driving the same Saturday, I usually leave Austin ~4:00 am, 4:30 the latest.
