For those of you traveling on Labor Day, enjoy nature and family. For those of you who care about the climate and will be in Austin next Monday night, please consider joining us.
Agenda:
6:35p – 6:45 p Announcements
6:45p – 7:30p Breakout Sessions by Action Team:
Gulf Coast Climate Action Team – Opposes building LNG facilities, deep water Oil & Gas ports, pipelines, plastic plants, and other oil and gas initiatives focused along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Political Team – Major opportunities for major advances in fighting climate change exist in votes on a new Austin Climate Equity Plan, an extension to that plan, and through the Budget Reconciliation Bill. Other issues for the Team to choose from include a local ballot referendum to restore a large police force, issues at the Texas state legislature, and others.
Transportation Team –The Transportation Team will discuss I-35 options, furthering electrification of vehicles, and public transit.
Social Media Team – This Team is gaining momentum but needs more people who like to write to support all our efforts.
We could have a breakout for one or two other teams if members want.
We will also ask people to sign up for our Education Team, Tabling Team, Climate Justice Team, and Austin Energy Team.
7:30p – 8:00p Presentation: Highlights (Bob Hendricks), Commentary (Bruce Melton), and Discussion (everyone) of IPCC Report draft of section on Physical Science Basis. Although official ending time is 8pm, we may stay up to 30 additional minutes if people want to keep discussing.
