Sierra Club Monthly Program: Why Progressives Should Support a Price on Carbon

Our monthly Austin Sierra Club meeting will be online via Zoom.

We'll start off with Announcements on current events... Tonite's main program is Why Progressives Should Support a Price on Carbon, with economist Dr. Emily Northrop .

Most economists, climate activists, and climate scientists recognize that a well-designed price on carbon is a powerful tool to fight climate change. Not just any price on carbon, but one that cuts carbon pollution rapidly while protecting more vulnerable people - a just, equitable, progressive price on carbon. Dr. Northrop will lay out the case for this.

Dr. Northrop is a Professor of Economics Emirita at Southwestern University. She has taught courses and published peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and book reviews on economics, climate change, and environmental studies.
