This group is for anyone that has a habit to break, a habit to create, or an interest in their habits generally. Whether you want to start exercising, limit shopping, stop reaching for a cookie, change careers or just stop hitting the snooze button so many times, habits determine our behaviors and impact our daily lives. Breaking or establishing a habit takes time, willpower and grit. Once formed habits become our autopilot to “good” and “bad” behaviors. Part group discussion, part accountability group, “The Habit Work” meet-up is meant to establish a community of people curious about themselves, learning from each other, trying new things and perhaps changing or establishing a habit along the way.
(This group is just forming so it is expected to change a bit over time.) We will begin with each meet-up considering a topic related to how habits are broken and created. There will always be something practical to try to see if it works for you. Resources will be shared. The group meeting will be a facilitated discussion and depending on the size of the group, may include some small group activities. Gatherings will be short, about 45 minutes (which includes a short 5-10 information sharing and then guided discussion) with additional time for chatting and connections. Please bring a positive attitude, be respectful to others and a willingness to participate (a little or a lot). As with all meet-ups, please update your RSVP appropriately.
Accountability – A natural inspiration out of our discussion will be examining your own habits. If you are interested in participating in an accountability group, please let one of the organizers know. This is not a requirement.
