Let's go see the free playing reading of Tatay, by Pelita Dasalla! I saw a shorter version of this play during Frontera Fest and can vouch that it is wonderful! Tatay is a Filipino-American story about a young lady named Anita, whose stern and private mother passed away, taking all her secrets to the grave, including who Anita’s real father is. The truth is revealed when Anita goes home from college after her mother’s death, just to find out that her aunt has invited Anita’s real father to dinner. It is a heartfelt story that deals with loss, love, and betrayal.
Let's go to an Evening of Light, a Cinnamon Path Production variety show benefiting Vela Families, which supports parents of children with special needs through hands-on courses, wraparound services, and community building. Austin writers, magicians, singers, and comedians are participating! I’ve seen the talent line-up and can guarantee lots of fun! Featuring Laura Freeman, Anna Larson, Courthouse Rock and Turning Tricks with the Darlings. With special guests: Rita Anderson (with Veronica Pomata & Johana Whitmore), Amber Bixby, Cami & Zach, Ava Love Hanna, Tristan Mercado, Carlton Wilcoxson, and Joey Zimmerman There will be a counting game raffle for amazing prizes and photo booth too! Y’all come! Tickets are only $15. Let's go see TILT Performance Group's Flipside Redux showcase of six short plays that feature the theme of the other side. TILT provides adults with and without disabilities the opportunity to create and perform professional theatre that shatters stereotypes about people with disabilities. Organizer Marla Porter is super excited to have a play featured in the showcase and has seen several TILT shows around town, which were all wonderful! We'll meet at Ground Floor Theatre thirty minutes before showtime and go down the breezeway to Friends and Allies for drinks and discussion afterwards. Please join us! https://www.tiltperformance.org/about-us Ground Floor Theatre is located at 979 Springdale Road, Suite 122, all the way around the back side of the complex. TILT is using their space for June 6-9 and June 14 and 15 for the Flipside showcase. Please try to see this wonderful show at some point during the run if you can't join us for the Saturday, June 8, performance. https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4239631
