Volunteer at the Austin Creative Reuse store
Bring your passion and your creativity. We’ll prepare materials and creative kits for the center. This could include testing paints, sorting beads or perhaps putting buttons into bags. Stop by for 30 minutes or stay for a few hours. While I can't go every week, make sure you let them know you're representing the zero waste meetup group! We invite families with children ages 10+ to volunteer together at the center during our volunteer planned activity events. Parents/guardians must remain with their children and be engaged with the volunteering task for the duration of the session. Each adult may volunteer with up to two children and is responsible for the supervision and safety of the children they are with. Don't forget to bring donations. They accept practically anything, but check their website for any particular needs. You can also patron the store, just bring cash. Most things only cost $0.25. Never buy gift bags, wrapping paper, or birthday cards for retail price again! Restock your office supplies for very cheap too, the prices are even less than Goodwill.

What we're about

Are you interested in helping Austin reach its Zero Waste goal by 2040? Austin has become the first Texas city to commit to zero waste as its goal. "WasteNots" are active residents who help each other start, or improve, a zero waste lifestyle. This meetup's purpose is to unite the community to promote a zero waste lifestyle and push the effort in creating a cleaner, healthier city.

By eliminating unnecessary items in every aspect of your life, this meaningful and achievable lifestyle will help you save time and money, support local businesses, decrease litter, reduce your toxic exposure, eat well, become more self-sufficient, and preserve the planet for future generations.
