Many thanks to you, Jodin, and all the hard work you put in to make these a success. I expect we will see even more geeks and gamers at the future ones. I also expect that we will recruit lots more folks from the other meetups like “New to Austin” to joining us as well.  Great work!

Subject: [AustinGeeksAndGamers] Final Attendance Count for Event on Saturday Jan. 5, 2013

Hi Fellow Geeks,

I think we had a pretty awesome event last night. We had a total of 98 people sign up for the event from various groups. The final outcome was 59 people attended, which is the most we have ever had. I lost count some, so the actual number is probably slightly higher than this. I think this event was a success for a couple reasons.

1. The group New to Austin was invited so we had some guests join us who have not been in Austin long and are looking for fun things to do. A lot of the members of New to Austin said they had fun and I was able to promote the Austin Geeks and Gamers and other groups as well.

2. We had a lot of people new to gaming and we were able to get them introduced to gaming. I had one guest tell me they came to the event to learn Settlers of Catan. I promptly broke out my Catan board and played a game with them and two others. I also told them about the local Catan group on which they did not even know existed.

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped out. I got a lot of positive responses after the event. A lot of people thanked me for hosting the event and asked when the next light boardgame event at Newk's would take place.
