Update to Emerald Tavern Reservation Policy

Hello fellow Geeks and Gamers!

Emerald Tavern has become a sort of unofficial home for our meetup, a haven for geeks and gamers who want to eat, drink, game, and be merry.

They have recently clarified their reservation policy, in a way that I completely endorse. In short, if we want to use their space, let’s support their business by buying something – a soda, a tea, a sandwich, a snack. Let’s help keep them in business, or better still, help them grow into bigger and better space someday to accommodate even more of us.

For more detail, here’s their full policy. If you have any questions, please email me at [address removed]. Many thanks!

Your Chief Organizer,

Jeff “Johann” Johannigman”

Emerald Tavern Games & Cafe has limited seating capacity. In order to accommodate as many customers as possible with the least impact on all customers’ comfort and experience, we require the following rules be observed by groups for which we have extended reservation privileges. Particularly on busy nights where other customers may resultantly be unable to find a table, these rules are doubly important.

1.     Event organizer must have phone number and email address registered with store.

2.     Event/reservation organizer must check in with staff upon arrival.

3.     Reserved tables for which organizer(s) haven’t check-in by 10 minutes following start time will have reservations removed.

4.     If unable to check-in in time, the organizer must call the store to let us know what the status is (late start, backup organizer running event, event cancelled).

We have limited seating space and moving and/or re-orienting tables generally creates accessibility issues for other customers and often inefficient utilization of seating area. Staff will work with event organizer(s) to best accommodate event with minimal impact to other patrons. This includes requests to move or combine tables.

1.     Tables may not be combined or moved without first consulting with staff.

2.     Access to retail shelves may not be blocked (min 3 foot distance).

3.     Do not take chairs from other tables. If a table requires extra seating, use the stacking extra chairs provided for that purpose.

4.     To combine two “4 Top” tables a minimum of 8 players is required.

5.     On busy nights combining tables may not be permitted (staff discretion).

Emerald Tavern Games & Cafe is a different concept, seeking to provide a unique environment and experience for customers who wish to enjoy food and drink in a gaming atmosphere. Food and drink sales to customers enjoying our game space are critical to the vitality of the store.

1.     Minimum purchase: At minimum we request each attendee to purchase at least one food or drink item.

2.     3rd parties for which we have made reservations are expected to communicate the above to attendees.

3.     Groups which do not meet at least average spend/table may not be offered reservations in the future.
