Happy New Year, Geeks and Gamers!

Howdy my fellow geeks and gamers!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for being part of a phenomenal 2015 for our meetup. We have grown to over 2700 total members, with over 1700 of you joining in 2015. Thanks to help from two dozen event organizers, we held nearly 350 different events, practically enough to attend a meetup every day of the year. When I took over this group three years ago, with fewer than 50 members, I would have never imagined us growing to this size. To borrow a quote, “We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty!”

I am looking forward to an even geekier 2016. One event I am particularly excited about is our February Social “Dinner with a G-List Celebrity”. Fans of “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” well remember James C. Leary, who played “Clem, the Loose Skinned Demon” in numerous episodes. I was delighted to discover that he is now an Austin resident, a local improv performer, and a member of our own Geeks and Gamers meetup group. If you have never read his hilarious, often ribald blog, check it out here: . James has agreed to share his stories of fame, shame, lucky breaks, misfortune, and just plain embarrassment at the hands of the Hollywood machine with us. The event is February 3 at Mangia Pizza. See our event listing at for more details and to reserve your space. Even if you have never seen an episode of Buffy, I guarantee a great evening.

Also, this is the time of year when I need to pay dues to to pay for their services. I appreciate the support of everybody who donated in 2015 to keep our group running. If you want to contribute to an even geekier 2016, please chip in at .

Thanks again for joining our geek community. I look forward to seeing you at an event soon!

Live Long and Prosper,

May the Force be with you,

Aim to misbehave,
