What we're about

HI All
I thought it would be a great idea to start up a new Meetup group for like minded people who want to meet up for dining out, theatre and cinema evenings, 40 to 60 year olds looking to get out and about, enjoying new events and meeting new friends,

Once a month Dining - at a lovely venue, from country pubs and restaurants in nearby villages and more local venues like The Woolpack, Broad Leys.... for good food, good company and good conversation.

Theatre evenings - In aylesbury and beyond, from musicals to dramas, and shakespeare in the summer at Tring.... the worlds our oyster. Includes the odd show in London too! Not forgetting the Monthly Friday comedy nights at The Waterside, which now includes optional curry to start our weekend off with a laugh!

Cinema Nights - for that film you have been waiting to see, which you can now share with others, and optional after film drink and catch up.

Monthly Book Club - We meet up on a Sunday Evening at The Charter once a month for an informal meet up and discussion about that month's book, and a nice get together for a couple of hours.

You can pick and choose any of the events that will be happening, and go to the ones that YOU are interested in. Its that simple and easy, so why not come along and join the new group, and kick start your social scene !!

Rules

1. Anyone wishing to join the group will need to include a picture of themselves within their profile.

2. There is a £10 annual fee, which is payable at the first event you attend.

3. For all meals a deposit of £5 is required 2 weeks prior to the meal date. The deposit is then taken off the cost of your meal on the night. This allows confirmation of final numbers to the restaurant in plenty of notice.

4. Deposits for meals are non refundable.

5 Theatre payments - once payments are made and tickets purchased this is non refundable. However if you are no longer able to make the event do let me know and I will announce to all members that a ticket is available. If a member then wishes to purchase your ticket then they will pay you directly for ticket.

4. If you put your name down for an event - when payment is then requested you will need to make payment at the time requested, OR change your RSVP to No. For anyone who does neither this will be shown as a "no show". If you have 2 no shows then you will be removed from the group.

Bank Holiday Friday Night Dining and Live Music - Broad Leys Aylesbury

The Broad Leys Pub and Restaurant

HI All I have booked a meal on Good Friday at a local restaurant which we have been to before, the food is lovely and on this evening there is a singer performing too! Following our meal we can then go into the bar to listen to the live band if we fancy, or stay chatting at our table. For this one I will need to collect our £5 deposits by next weekend and we will need to pre order our meals (we will be a large party and all of their food is freshly made) once I have the numbers I will send menu and details for payment to you all. Located on the outskirts of Aylesbury town centre, the Broad Leys pub and restaurant offers you a haven from the hustle and bustle of busy town life or hectic office days. Dating back over 300 years the building has been renovated to a high standard to provide a contemporary space which still retains its historic atmosphere. Whatever the occasion you choose to share with us we promise excellent and prompt service, superb cuisine and above all a visit you'll want to repeat time and time again.

If coming for a Burger we would meet at 6.30pm If coming for comedy only we will meet up at 7.45pm A great way to start your weekend with a Comedy night at the Aylesbury Theatre. The Comedy evening is always held in a small upstairs theatre room, which houses just 180 people. So its a great close up way to see 2 live comedians as well as a warm up commentary from the compare too, all for just £11.00. Being such a small venue means that these monthly events get booked up fast! I thought we could try a different pre theatre meal this month. For those who fancy it I would like to suggest we go for a burger at The Gourmet Burger Kitchen (near the cinema). Please let me know if you would be interested in going for Comedy and Burger or Comedy Only If coming for a Burger we would meet at 6.30pm If coming for comedy only we will meet up at 7.45pm I will be buying tickets for this one at the end of January. Ts and Cs So now for the boring but important stuff, to ensure you get included in the booking for this event 1 I send out an email requesting payment for the event and a date is given when the payment is due. 2 Once this date has passed if anyone has not made payment they will be moved to the wait list. 3 Once tickets are bought, seat numbers are then included within the event. If you would like to come along at this point, you would need to buy your own ticket and drop me a quick message so that I know you are coming along. Do remember this is an online group and so its important you ensure your settings allow you to receive emails and comments

Book Club - Let me Lie - Clare Macintosh

The Charter

Hi All For our next month's read we have chosen this thriller book which is a Sunday Times best seller, and has high ratings on Amazon. This one is on Amazon priced at £4.99 for paperback and £3.99 kindle. I am sure others will find it cheaper (we always appreciate any feedback on best pricing) The police say it was suicide. Anna says it was murder. Who do you believe? Two years ago, Tom and Caroline Johnson committed suicide, one seemingly unable to live without the other. Their adult daughter, Anna, is struggling to come to terms with her parents' deaths, unable to comprehend why they chose to end their lives. Now with a young baby herself, she feels her mother's presence keenly and is determined to find out what really happened to her parents. But as Anna digs up the past, someone is trying to stop her. She soon learns that nothing is as it seemed.
