Azure Containers & Azure Cost Efficiency

Azure Containers & Azure Cost Efficiency

Details

Hi everyone,

I'm super excited to announce that our first Azure Thames Valley event is confirmed for Tuesday 11h December (6:30 pm start).

We have 2 talks/speakers planned for the evening. The talks are...

Talk 1: Getting Started with Containers in Azure by Mark Heath

There are loads of ways to run containers in Azure, but it's not necessarily obvious how you should choose between them. This session will guide you through four key services in Azure that can host containers, explaining their key benefits, and demonstrate how quickly you can get started with them using a few simple Azure CLI commands.

Mark is a software architect, Pluralsight author and Microsoft MVP, currently specialising in Azure, serverless architectures and .NET. He is the author of several open source libraries including NAudio, an audio framework for .NET.

Talk 2: Azure Cost Efficiency: Where did my money go? by Richard Conway

Managing costs in the cloud is one of the hardest things that you will end up doing. It's impossible to know at the start of an enterprise project how much your spend will be so understanding good patterns and practices of cloud economics is key. In this talk Richard will describe how you can use Azure APIs to report and keep track of costs and present them back to your stakeholders. We will also cover the patterns and antipatterns which lead to excess cost.

Richard Conway is a Microsoft Regional Director and Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in Azure as well as Director of Elastacloud which is a Data Science consultancy working across key business sectors such as retail, finance, engineering and others.

As well as my role in business, I'm an author of books and courses and a key contributor to Apache open source projects with a love for all things cloud and data. Over the years I've become proficient in C++, C#, Java, Scala, Python and R and I mix and match these skills for my customers and community on a daily basis.

I love speaking to new audiences on aspects of cloud, data science and data platform and have spoken all across Europe over the last few years.

I'm a strong advocate of communities and over the years founded @ukazure and a few others.

As an advocate for child education in IT I've been working closely with Code Club in the UK. My most recent community contribution has been AzureCraft, an annual two day event for developers, parents and kids to teach the Cloud and Programming through Minecraft.

Talk to me about: Microsoft Azure, Big Data, Apache Spark, Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning.
