Talk descriptions
"Platform Engineering - How We Deploy an Azure-Based Platform with Crossplane" by Jakob Will Iversen (Novo Nordisk)
In this session Jakob will give a briefly introduction what crossplane is, before diving in to how we use it to manage azure resources at scale as well as explain how we overcome initial bootstrap hurdles.
"The AI Advantage: Transforming DevSecOps from the Ground Up" by Nicolai Petri (Just Software)
Let's face it – AI is changing everything about how we run IT operations, and jumping on the AI-first train isn't just smart, it's becoming necessary for organizations of all sizes. In this talk, we'll explore how giving AI the right structured knowledge can transform it from a generic assistant into a powerful collaborator that understands your specific environment. I'll share real-world insights on how AI is making previously tedious tasks surprisingly simple, with a quick demo to show you what's possible. You'll walk away with practical next steps for bringing AI into your workflows and a handy list of tools worth checking out – whether you're a developer, infrastructure manager, or somewhere in between.
"Reducing database costs to $1 with data modeling, Azure Web PubSub, and the Cosmos serverless plan" by Simon Kofoed (Novo Nordisk)
Many perceive Azure Cosmos DB as costly. Yet with proper data modeling and serverless capabilities, significant cost reductions are achievable. We'll explore a real-world case study where migration from a $280/month RDBMS setup to Cosmos DB reduced costs to under $1/month, improving end-user experience and reducing eCO₂ footprint.
"How Saxo Blueprint leverages GitOps & Spotify Backstage eases the life of Developers, Supporters and Auditors alike!" by Jakob Svendsen
In the fast-paced world of cloud-native applications, ensuring seamless deployment and management of service dependencies is critical. Enter Saxo Blueprint, an innovative solution developed to orchestrate the deployment of essential dependencies such as internal applications, Kafka topics, databases, firewall openings, DNS records, and more. Additionally, a portal based on Spotify Backstage enables developers and other employees to discover and configure services in the company.
This solution enables easier disaster recovery as well as giving us a great way to provide evidence to auditors including approvals.
"Understanding the Azure Landing Zone Concept: Why It Matters for Novo Nordisk" by Jacob Manicus-Hald (Novo Nordisk)
In this presentation, we will delve into the Azure Landing Zone concept and its significance for Novo Nordisk. We will discuss the limitations of traditional approaches and highlight the need for flexibility in responding to our diverse Azure consumption needs. The session will cover how our approach and implementation empowers teams to get customized Landing Zones tailored to specific projects and initiatives. Ensuring better governance and compliance, enhancing security, through a streamlining process. Join us as we explore how adopting this innovative framework not only improves operational efficiency but also strengthens our capacity to meet the evolving demands of our internal customers.
"Hard lessons learned from a decade of architecting software products on Azure" by Marilag Svennevig (Dewise)
There's a certain kind of joy that comes from architecting a new product using the platforms you love—like Azure. You envision a castle and begin building it, brick by brick. It looks beautiful on paper, and even more so in the cloud once it goes live. But no architecture is flawless, and the journey to production is always a turbulent one. In this talk, allow me to indulge you with the story of my many failed—and successful—attempts at architecting software products using a cacophony of Azure services released over the past decade, and why my next architecture must, once again, reflect the signs of the times.
