Global Azure Bootcamp 2018

Details

• What we'll do
Once again, we're back with Global Azure Bootcamp, the biggest Azure event in the world! And again, we want to welcome all Developers and IT-Pro's with an interest in Azure.

This year we will be taking a slightly different approach, and focus more on hands-on labs and solve challenges, rather than hour long technical talks.

Doing hands-on labs requires that you bring your laptop, and have an Azure subscription (MSDN or trial susbcriptions is fine). We have also received some vouchers that will be available for those that don't have a subscription.

The venue this year is Microsoft Denmark, Kanalvej 7, 2800 Kongens Lyngby. Time and date is 10.00-16.00, on April 21st.

Agenda - Developer track
For the developer track, we will start with some lightning talks:

Speaker: Marilag Dimatulac
Subject: Azure Cosmos DB - Express yourself with the multi-model api
Description: Azure Cosmos DB is not your average NoSql database. With its muti model api capability, you have the flexibility to choose the right datastore for each part of your application. You can create and query json documents, tables, graph or use other products such as Mongo or Cassandra. In this talk I will share the lessons I've learned from building a SaaS application that uses different Cosmos DB api to implement different microservices.

Speaker: Rasmus Wätjen
Subject: ASP.NET Core 2.0 Identity and Azure Active Directory
Description: So you have an existing ASP.NET application with local user identities, and you want to extend it to include Azure AD authentication. How do you combine the two in your application? I will show you how to do that so your internal users can use their Azure AD accounts, and the external site users can continue to use the local user accounts. And so that only internal users can access the site backend.

Speaker: Simon J. K. Pedersen
Subject: I’m a developer, is Azure Data Factory for me?
Description: Quick introduction to how to get started with Azure Data Factory for everyday tasks.

Subject: Containers in Azure – is it just hype or should I care?
Description: Microsoft pushes a new container product every week, or so it seems. My 5 cents on how to take advantage of those and which of them that makes sense.

From there we will have an Azure round table, where everyone can pitch in and discuss the things they use in Azure, or want to use in the future. Morten Christensen will kick-off the discussion by talking about the various Azure services they use for Umbraco Cloud (SaaS-based CMS offering on Azure).

After the round table, there will be different hands-on labs you can dive into, including the official Global Azure Bootcamp lab. There will also be some Amazon Echo Dots and Raspberry Pi 3 devices to try out with Azure Functions and Kubernetes.

Agenda - IT Pro track
For IT Pro's we have the following content planned:

We will start out with an Azure round table, to discuss the learnings everyone has from Azure, both good and bad, what features are used, and so on.

After the round table, we have a bunch of labs prepared that can be done in groups or alone. The labs includes:

IaaS - VMs and Networking, ARM templates, Azure Files Sync, Management tools Using Web Apps with SQL, implementing continous delivery and ARM templates, monitoring and data collection Governance and Security, subscriptions & resource groups, Azure policies and Security Center We look forward to seeing everyone, and hope for yet another great event!

This years sponsor of food and drinks is Arrow ECS DK - a big thanks to them for supporting us!
