Introduction to Unity Netcode for GameObjects
Details
This month we're excited to welcome Esteban Maldonado from Unity to talk about Netcode for GameObjects! If you're wondering where to start with making a multiplayer game in Unity, this is the talk for you.
About the talk:
In this talk we'll mainly focus on Netcode for GameObjects which is a networking library built for the Unity game engine. This library helps developers send game world data across a networking session!
We'll go over how to setup a Unity project to be network-ready, and we'll go over how you can achieve some basic game/world data synchronization across multiple clients.
Additionally, we'll take a look at Relay and Lobby. These services help you to bring your game online with a Peer-to-Peer connection, and organize lobby and player data when running your game.
About the Speaker:
Esteban is a Developer Advocate for Operate Solutions, helping spread the word of Netcode for GameObjects and other multiplayer services. He's been a gamer and a geek all his life ever since he first played Super Mario Bros. at 5 years old, back home in Puerto Rico. Wanting to learn more about the gaming industry, he moved to Washington State. Since then, he's been mostly focused on tools development for designers, artists, and content creators in general, and had also taken opportunities in teaching CS and game development fundamentals to elementary, and high school students. As an advocate, he can apply both the same passion to help clients, and the passion for teaching about new technologies.

We intend to get things back to normal as soon as possible, and look forward to better days. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us at admins@bostonunitygroup.com.
By attending or participating in BUG events, you agree to abide by our safe-space policy (https://tinyurl.com/yablpctf). If you feel you are unable to, please do not attend or participate.
Thanks to our sponsors! Unity and The CIC Cambridge are generously sponsoring our meetup this month.
