Get Ahead by Giving Back
On December 16th join us for a Grub in The Hub focused on how tech companies can embrace the spirit of giving – not just during the holiday season.
For the final Grub in The Hub of 2016, Michelle Malpass, Director of Community Performance for Traction on Demand (http://tractionondemand.com/)’s “Traction for Good” program, will share the ways in which Traction has used corporate responsibility programs and philanthropy to not only drive engagement in existing employees, but also as a way to strengthen company-wide culture, recruit talented people to join their team, and better the communities in which they live, work and play.
Winners of the 2014 Technology Impact Award for Community Engagement, and 2016 TIA for Team of the Year, Traction for Good (http://tractionondemand.com/about/t4g/) has supported more than 50 non-profit organizations, and given more than $250,000 in donations, pro-bono projects and time since its founding in 2010. In addition to this, Traction works to “build philanthropists” by engaging new hires in special giving programs during the onboarding process.
This session will inspire you with ways in which your company, no matter the size, can make giving back part of your culture, and show how supporting your employees to support their communities leads to better engagement and stronger relationships without sacrificing (and often, improving!) your bottom line.
About our Speaker:
Michelle Malpass (https://ca.linkedin.com/in/mmalpass), Director of Community Performance at Traction on Demand
Michelle manages Traction for Good, Traction on Demand’s community engagement program. Its purpose is three-fold: it supports the community through donations, volunteerism and Salesforce service grants. It funds Traction's community engagement program by directing 100% of their partner referral fees to Traction for Good. That way, Traction remains technology agnostic and can continue to give back to the community.
Michelle leverages her non-profit experience with the resources available at Traction to support our local community, empower staff to become philanthropists, and enable non-profits to become more efficient through the use of technology, so they can impact more people. Michelle is the former Executive Director of the Take a Hike Youth Risk Foundation where she was responsible for fundraising, volunteer engagement and program growth. She truly believes that companies have an incredible opportunity to create positive change if they leverage their time, talent and treasure in a meaningful way. Michelle earned her BA in Communications and played varsity softball at SFU, before her enthusiasm for adventure took her across Canada, Europe, Central and South America. She is passionate about the outdoors, playing hockey, and supporting great causes. She calls her workdays at Traction her ‘days off’, with three young kids keeping her busy at home!
