What we're about

Life Drawing has long been considered the best way to learn to draw and can be an enjoyable and therapeutic experience for anyone regardless of experience.

Trish is skilled at teaching the subject to people from absolute beginners to students on BA/masters courses and professional artists, bringing the extra insight of her time spent learning with and teaching life drawing to animators.

Whilst the whole subject of drawing is taken seriously, tutored sessions are lively and engaging, introducing a variety of techniques and ideas which are delivered with humour. Individuality and independence are encouraged, and activities are adjusted to the ability of the artist, whether beginner or experienced.
The intention is to provide the type of sessions we would like to attend - with the flexibility of pay-as-you-go, a variety of venues and models and varied activities. Do look at the comments on the website from people who have attended sessions!

The aim is not so much to get a finished drawing as to explore different techniques, increase confidence, encourage personal style. Newcomers are surprised how fast they progress. Some more experienced artists may opt to work untutored some or all of the time (do say if you prefer this) but most enjoy joining in. There are warm ups followed by a range of activities both traditional and new to inspire, and a longer pose where one to one help is available.

Most venues have a café or some way of making drinks during the break.

There is a regular newsletter with dates and a weekly text for those who find it helpful (you can request this via the contact page on the website).

Working Without a Model ONLINE alternate Tuesdays - A chat and create session

UPDATE September 2021. Classes in venues are now gradually restarting, and some online sessions will continue though this one will change to once a fortnight. Due to Covid, numbers in venues are restricted and booking is online via my website trishvisualarts.weebly.com, with payment via bank transfer. Price is £9.50. If you have any problems please email me on [masked]. Thanks

EDIT DURING COVID: This session now runs successfully online every Tuesday at 11 (and some Thursdays). If you are keen to join please contact me on [masked] rather than booking through Meetup. We work in a very similar way to before except that people send me photos of what they will be drawing (or creating in some way). It is generally quite chatty and we will often look at different aspects of drawing/observation such as types of pencil, warming up exercised, measuring, perspective, how to draw heads and faces. £9 for two hours. Thank you.

A chance to work alongside other people on whatever you choose.
Although there will be a nod to my regular classes with a life or portrait model, this session will not be strictly about the human form or face.
A two hour session where we work from items or pictures in a relaxed, less structured session where I can help you or you can just enjoy chatting as you work on something of your own choice in a friendly environment. I will bring books with pictures of various aspects of the human body from skeleton through whole figures. You are welcome to bring anything you feel you would like to work from, so if you would like to paint a landscape or draw a still life, just bring your subject and any materials you expect to need. If you prefer to create in 3d (anything - faces, buildings, name plates), look at my website page on Paper 'n' Glue to see what is possible and have a chat with me over what will be needed.
This session will be £9.

Don't be put off by the lack of RSVP, a number of people have found us through other routes.

We also have Life Drawing and Portrait at this and other venues as well as the occasional All Day Life Drawing Workshop.

Life Drawing - drawing from the human figure. Suitable for anyone from the absolute beginner through students and professionals. A tutored session with various activities however feel free to say if you just want to do your own thing for all or part of the session. The sessions are intended to be fun, varied, instructive and supportive and usually include warm ups and a longer pose. These are pay-as-you-go sessions so no need to commit to a term. Don't worry if not many did RSVP, a lot of people knew us before meetup.

£10 a session until end September 2018, thereafter £12. All materials are included. Moordown sessions are run on the second and fourth Friday afternoon each month and first Wednesday evening (additional sessions at other venues). Drinks available on site.

I provide materials, paper and drawing boards but feel free to bring anything you want.

Art class with Trish online - Portrait/Clothed Life/Work W/out a Model - Thurs

Update October 2021:

Some sessions have now started in venues.

Thursdays will continue online as long as people prefer to do sessions remotely. I am aware that numbers will reduce so please make sure you book through my website at least a day before for this session so I know whether to run it. There will be no models for now. £12.50

COVID UPDATE
Currently there are no sessions in venues. I am running some sessions with a model on zoom at this time on a Thursday (every other week), currently these alternate between Portrait sessions with a clothed model in a single pose (where possible with two different views) and Clothed Life Drawing where we have a variety of poses of different lengths, a similar session to my usual Life class but with the model in top and leggings. If you are interested or just want to know more please email me on [masked] rather than replying here. £12 for two hours, payable in advance. Trish
