BIDA Sparkle
Welcome to the second BIDA ~*Sparkle*~ on September 29, 2018. Sparkle is an evening of waltzes, blues, and fusion dancing. The dance will run from 7:30-10:30 pm. The first half will feature waltzes and sweet and groovy tunes by Julie Vallimont and friends. Then we'll have a break with an introductory lesson to fusion social couple dancing, blending and borrowing from waltz and blues. The second half will be DJed fusion-y-bluesy-waltzy songs you can dance your heart out to. This is a special BIDA dance with live and recorded electronic-acoustic music and club lighting (glowy clothes are fun!). As always, BIDA is an inclusive community and everyone is welcome. Public Transportation (recommended): We are across the street from the Porter Square Red Line stop. Parking: Free street parking (meters and residential are open to all on Sundays). Don't park in the Shaw's parking lot because they tow. We highly encourage public transit and carpooling -- feel free to start a carpool thread in the comments below! Admission will be $7 - $15 sliding scale. If you are interested in volunteering and getting in for free and making this whole thing possible, we always need **lots** of hands to get the extra **sparkle** ready. Stay tuned for a volunteer post! See you there!

    What we're about

Contra dance is a kind of social dance with live music where a caller teaches the figures. You don't need to come with a partner, and while there is a short lesson before each of our dances it's optional. Most people learn contra dancing by doing it.

    It looks like:

You should wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. High heels don't work well. We'll have water but if you'd like to save cups bringing a water bottle is good.
