    Woooooooo Spark in the Dark! BIDA welcomes you to join us for a fabulous Friday evening, December 14th, at the Somerville Armory, at 191 Highland Ave, Somerville MA. The rad and wry Will Mentor will call some hip, sweet dances to dancey trancey grooving moving music by Buddy System and friends (Julie Vallimont, Noah VanNorstrand, Andrew VanNorstrand, and Chris Miller) The dance will run from 7:15-10:15 pm. If you are new to contra dancing, come a little early and ask to join in a beginner workshop at 7:00 to get yourself oriented before all the beats ddddrop. This is a special contra dance with live electronic-acoustic music and club lighting (glowy clothes are fun!). As always, BIDA is an inclusive community and everyone is welcome. The Somerville Armory is a beautiful, airconditioned space with a balcony and cafe that houses the Center for the Arts, and a weekly farmer's market, and a bunch of other great community events. We love it here! It is a 15 minute walk from Davis Square on the Red Line, and several buslines run by it. There is a bike rack, and a free parking lot (!!) and overflow spaces also available, deets: www.artsatthearmory.org/about/getting-here/ We highly encourage public transit and carpooling -- feel free to start a carpool thread in the comments below! Admission will be $7 - $15 sliding scale. If you are interested in volunteering and getting in for free and making this whole thing possible, we always need **lots** of hands to get the extra **sparkle** ready for Spark.     Welcome to the second BIDA ~*Sparkle*~ on September 29, 2018. Sparkle is an evening of waltzes, blues, and fusion dancing. The dance will run from 7:30-10:30 pm. The first half will feature waltzes and sweet and groovy tunes by Julie Vallimont and friends. Then we'll have a break with an introductory lesson to fusion social couple dancing, blending and borrowing from waltz and blues. The second half will be DJed fusion-y-bluesy-waltzy songs you can dance your heart out to. This is a special BIDA dance with live and recorded electronic-acoustic music and club lighting (glowy clothes are fun!). As always, BIDA is an inclusive community and everyone is welcome.
