Pre-Robotics Workshop: Learn to Solder and Breadboard Electronics!
Soldering is an essential maker skill and one that most people can master with dedicated practice. Soldering allows you to repair electronic toys and gadgets, create your own electronic devices, and so much more. In addition to Soldering, we will be learning how to create electronic circuits from scratch on a Breadboard! "Breadboarding" is equally important as it allows Makers to try various circuit implementations (and debug them too) before Soldering a prototype. Join us this coming Sunday 19th August for some good ole fashioned Electronics Fun! WHAT: Intro to Soldering and Breadboarding Electronics WHEN: Sunday 19th August 2018 TIME: 11AM - 6PM WHERE: Makespace Indiranagar, #655, 11th Main Rd, Landmark: Behind Red Fork on 12th Main (https://goo.gl/maps/zjpXEi5SSdD2) COST: --> INR 1500/- per person (if registering here on Instamojo before Friday 18/07/2018) --> INR 2000/- per person (if registering on day of workshop, to be paid in cash) REGISTER via https://www.instamojo.com/kavitaarora/introduction-to-soldering-and-breadboarding-/ AGENDA 11.00 - 11.30: Welcome, Tea and Coffee --> What is Makespace and Open Source Creativity --> How to get started with Making and Tinkering --> The "Art and Science of Electronics" 11.30 - 13.00: Basics of Electronics and Components --> Using a Breadboard --> Wiring a Circuit --> Explanation and Comparison of different Electronic Components (Resistors, Diodes, LEDs, Capacitors, Power Supplies, Transistors, Sensor Modules and more) --> Understanding how to read circuit schematics and diagrams --> Breadboarding versus Bareboning 13.00 - 14.00: Lunch Break (on your own) 14.00 - 15.00: Breadboarding Exercises --> Make a simple "Blinky" circuit with LEDs and Switches --> Using a 555 Timer IC to simulate police sirens and more! --> Using an Arduino with a Breadboard to prototype interesting sensor and feedback projects 15.00 - 16.00: SOLDERING AWESOMENESS! --> Overview of Tools, Materials and Equipment Needed --> Safety and Best Practices --> Getting Started with Soldering your first Circuit 16.00 - 17.30: Breadboard and Soldering PROJECT --> Choose a sample electronics project which you will first Breadboard and then Solder with the help of workshop mentors 17.30 - 18.00: Wrap up and Lessons Learned, Next Steps and Goodbye (for now!) What we're about

Robotics is the branch of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering and computer science that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotics

A robot is a mechanical or virtual artificial agent, usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer program or electronic circuitry.

Robots may fall under several categories: Industrial; Personal; Modular; Aerial/Automotive and many more. It is envisioned that robots will be part of our day to day routine. We can see them cleaning clothes, mopping floors, building human settlements and cooking food for us. If you think this is the future, join us. =)

Who should join:

- People who're interested in any or all aspects of Robotics

- People who are looking to learn how to build robots or are currently involved in a robotics project

- Sponsors and Companies who are willing to sponsor Community Challenges and Team Projects

- Individuals and Companies who are willing to donate Robotics equipment, electronics components and

We'll be discussing all aspects of Robotics: Their use in Industrial as well as Educational and Personal contexts; fictional robots/science fiction culture of Robotics as well as question what all these kinds of robots can do for us?

Why members should join:

It's the right time to explore Robotics as a hobby as well as a future career choice

We'll also attempt at building robots in robotics hackathons/robot build days.

What members can expect:

+ Building of robots using 3D printers, hobby electronics components and artificial intelligence techniques

+ Discussing various use-cases of robots, understanding how investments in Robotics occur

+ Types of personal robots available in the market to purchase, as well as teaching robotics to kids, etc.
