PCB Design and Fabrication - Advanced and Beginner Batches

The second of our continuing series of Embedded Systems Design workshops! Join us this coming Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November, 2016 for a practical, HANDS-ON, introduction to embedded systems design as we prototype a simple electronics circuit using the Atmel ATtiny and ATmega microcontroller from Breadboard --> CAD Layout (Digital Circuit Design) --> Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Fabrication. This time we will have both ADVANCED as well as BEGINNERS batches for the same.

WHAT: Intro to Embedded Systems Design and PCB Fabrication
--> Sat 19th + Sun 20th Nov [ADVANCED BATCH]
--> Sun 20th Nov [BEGINNERS BATCH]
TIME: 10AM - 6PM on both Sat and Sun
WHERE: THE Workshop (
--> ADVANCED BATCH: INR 2500/- per person
--> BEGINNERS BATCH: INR 1300/- per person
**You MUST register @ **

Each participant gets to take their finished PCB products home with them and will receive personalized instruction on how to single-handedly create successful electronics prototypes using PCB etching techniques after having completed a detailed CAD model of the same printed circuit board model.

+ Circuit Design using Breadboard Prototypes
+ Firmware Design for Atmel ATtiny and ATMega Microcontrollers
+ CAD design for Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) using CadSoft Eagle
+ Safe and Accurate PCB Fabrication using Etching processes
--> We aim to have this workshop be the "First" and "Last" session you will ever need on the subject of transferring an idea of a circuit design to a working prototype!

+ 10.00 - 10.30: Welcome to THE Workshop, Tea and Coffee
+ 10.30 - 11.30: Interactive Intro to "Thinking about Embedded Systems" with microcontrollers, serial communications and the role Arduino also plays in the ecosystem
+ 11.30 - 13.00: Circuit Design Explained using Breadboard and PerfBoard models, getting setup for PCB Design using Eagle CAD software
13.00 - 14.00: Lunch Break
14.00 - 16.00: PCB Design Exercises using the Cadsoft Eagle platform, understanding tricks and techniques on how to maximize efficiency from CAD to CAM
16.00 - 18.00: Troubleshooting individual designs and 1-to-1 mentoring on Circuit Design layouts for each Advanced Batch participant

+ 10.00 - 10.30: Beginners Batch Welcome; Tea and Coffee
+ 10.30 - 13.00:
--> Beginner Batch Participants will be provided with Intro to Circuit Design using Arduino and breadboard prototyping
--> Advanced Batch participants will proceed directly to Analysis and Testing of their individual PCB board designs using our Lab's Oscilloscope and Power Supplies
13.00 - 14.00: Lunch Break
14.00 - 16.00:
--> Beginner Batch will be instructed on how to complete PCB Design in CadSoft Eagle platform
--> Advanced Batch will move on directly to PCB Fabrication Process Induction and will take turns on etching their boards
16.00 - 18.00:
--> Beginner Batch will receive fabrication induction and will etch their PCB designs, with guidance from volunteers, will finish off their PCB products
--> Advanced Batch will be finishing off their final soldering and assembly process

+ This is a combination ADVANCED and BEGINNER batch workshop where participants of the Advanced Batch will attend both days Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, November and the Beginner batch will attend only on Sunday 20th November
+ The Advanced Batch will focus on a complex embedded system design (which is why they will need to come for two days) and the Beginner batch will focus on a simpler design which they will fabricate in the same day
+ This workshop is positioned as "The Ideal Introduction to Embedded Systems and PCB Fabrication" -- our hope is that people of any background and skill level will be able to successfully understand (simple) circuit theory and translate it from an idea to a working prototype.
+ Registration Link will be posted soon
+ Please bring your laptop and charger, as well as a computer mouse (very important to bring mouse!)
+ If you have any questions, please email Kavita Arora at [masked]
