- WALK INFO; grade = Easy, Dist = 11km , a circuit walk. Limit 14 is the group total, with Meetup & VNPA people. 130 km NW Melb, via Calder Hwy & Chewton. SUMMARY; See the scenery of Fryerstown and surrounding area, and enjoy relaxed walking in gold-mine history area with open box forests. A circuit walk, partly on the Goldfields Track. ( Likely there is time for a look at Castlemaine post-walk also, coffee-stop optional ) This walk is based on Walk 11, in the Glenn Tempest book "Victorias Goldfields Walks". A short section of this is on a quite public road (aprx 1 km); and rest of walk is bush tracks. - BOOKING INFO, ** please read.** The trip leader will be in touch with you after you RSVP, for info and car-pooling plans. Please include your phone number and email as prompted when you RSVP. - the $9- fee is for non-members of VNPA, or $5- for members. We meet at Fryerstown at 9.20 am ( & should finish approx 3 - pm) ---- You will need: - sturdy shoes suitable for bush-walking - wet weather gear and clothing suitable for the days conditions, Sunscreen, Sunhat, sunglasses, etc - day pack, lunch, snacks, and water (1.5 litres) - camera & binoculars (optional) - the VNPA walk fee. and; - to provide a phone number and email address with your rsvp. (This will be shared with others on this walk to assist with meeting for car pooling, otherwise only available to admin.) - if you say YES, we expect you to attend (or change your Meetup status at least 5 days prior ). ------- After RSVPing I may ask you a few questions to ensure that you have the fitness, equipment, and experience to undertake the activity. BWAG and its leaders reserve the right to reject an unsuitable participant from an activity. This one is a pretty casual and easy-med walk. Note there may/will also be non-meetup participants attending this activity, but group size will not exceed 14-16 participants. An auto wait-list applies :) Bookings open aprx 4 weeks before the event (,, a VNPA thing). VNPA info; BWAG is part of the Victorian National Parks Association ( see http://vnpa.org.au/), an independent non-profit group which exists to help protect Victoria’s natural environment and biodiversity. We are a member of Bushwalking Victoria and all our leaders are trained volunteers. The $9 cost goes towards insurance and supporting the conservation work of the VNPA.
