What is special about this field trip? See HERE. (http://www.mtwilson.edu/60in.php)
We went in April and is was a very special trip indeed. This is a rare opportunity to see through the same telescope which Hubble did .
when Hubble first started discovering what was 'out there', he started to see that we weren't the only galaxy in the universe. The reason it's call "Raw photons on your Retina" is because there are no cameras or video monitors. Just raw, millions-of-year-old photons falling on your retina. We will decide what to look for when we gather at the observatory.
At $55 per person, this is the priciest event we've had for a field trip, but it is one of those experiences you rarely will experience. We'll be looking at the ice caps on Mars, Jupiter and maybe the rings of Saturn as well as some interesting binary star formations and planetary nebula. Children over 12 invited. 25 people max.
You can meet us at the restaurant for dinner, after dinner or at the observatory

At the observatory at 7:15. Tour stars at 7:30pm. Free Parking. From the 201 freeway go north on highway 2 and follow the signs to the observatory. There is a limited number of cars permitted so please try and carpool with us from the restaurant.
Bring extra blankets, and of course dress very warm. You can bring any food you like as well as soft drinks/coffee. You might want to bring a folding chair as well. We have the observatory until 1am. You may leave anytime you wish if you have your own car. We should carpool as much as we can. Remember these are mountain roads. Fortunately few drivers will be on them that time of night.
