Do you like history? Are you curious to learn more about the people and events that shaped the history of Maryland and the United States? From the earliest explorers of North America to the Continental Congress to the War of 1812 to the Civil War and beyond, Maryland has been at the epicenter of American History. We will explore the various historical sites around the state and surrounding area. If you have an idea for a event or you would like us to visit a particular museum or historical site, don't be shy about telling us all about it!
National Museum of African American History and Culture
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans. To date, the Museum has collected more than 36,000 artifacts and nearly 100,000 individuals have become charter members.
The NMAAHC is a public institution open to all, where anyone is welcome to participate, collaborate, and learn more about African American history and culture. In the words of Lonnie G. Bunch III, founding director of the Museum, “there are few things as powerful and as important as a people, as a nation that is steeped in its history.”
I put in a request for 15 group tickets. I had to give them five choices for dates. Once I get confirmation from the museum on our date, this meetup will be updated.
Please sign up if you're interested in getting a ticket. BUT, if you're unable to attend once we get our confirmed date, PLEASE change your RSVP so that others may attend.
