About us
The Baltimore Jewish Cultural Chavurah is a home for those who identify as Jews primarily through culture, history and family. We provide a welcoming and enriching Jewish environment with no demands for religious beliefs. We believe that Judaism is the creation of the Jewish people and that all generations are responsible for carrying it forward and adding to it. We believe that only natural forces and human beings are responsible for what happens in this world. We believe that people have the ability and the responsibility to solve human problems through striving for equality, social justice and peace. We believe in the equality and dignity of every human being and in the value of community. BJCC is an affiliate of the Society for Humanistic Judaism and a member of the Baltimore Coalition of Reason. Nadav Tamir on Iran, Gaza and the future of the Middle East
Baltimore Hebrew Congregation, 7401 Park Heights Ave, Baltimore, MD, USOn Tuesday, April 28 at 7pm, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation will host a timely conversation with Nadav Tamir, Executive Director of J Street Israel.
Nadav brings decades of experience in Israeli diplomacy and public service to this conversation. He previously served as Israeli Consul General to New England and as a senior adviser to President Shimon Peres. Nadav now leads J Street Israel’s work to advance a diplomacy-first, pro-peace vision for the region, grounded in security and democratic values. His background - including his service as a Major in the Armored Corps of the Israel Defense Forces - gives him a unique vantage point on the political choices Israel faces, the US-Israel relationship and the realities people are living through across the region.
Nadav will walk us through the region’s most pressing developments: How the war with Iran is reshaping regional dynamics, the status of the ceasefire in Gaza and the ongoing settler terror in the West Bank. He’ll also reflect on the changing meaning of “pro-Israel” in US politics and why continued diplomatic engagement and accountability are essential for a stable future for all in Israel-Palestine.
This event will also feature a reception afterwards, where you’ll have the chance to meet Nadav and connect with others who care about peace, security and the future of democracy.
