Abstract:
Interested in developing for the Universal Windows Platform, but not sure where to start? Want to see your app in the Windows Store where you have the potential to reach hundreds of millions of users around the world?
In this introductory talk, we’ll discuss the origins and principals of the Universal Windows Platform, walk you through the basics of getting started (including building and deploying your first app) and touch on the fundamentals of basic UI design, XAML, and Data Binding.
While a basic understanding of C# development principals and the .NET framework is assumed, all experience levels are welcome.

Tom Reich is a Software Engineer Consultant at Microsoft Corporation. He has been developing Windows Store Apps since the inception of the Windows Store in 2012 and is passionate about modern application development on Windows platforms and beyond.
Tom also teaches an undergraduate course in C programming at UMBC and in his free time enjoys messing with home automation, amateur radio, and his XBOX One.
