Abstracts:
Topic: Social Signals: Bringing millions closer to their friends
Sports is best watched with friends and at hotstar, we are leveraging this fact to bring our users closer. In this talk, we’ll show how we connect an individual user to his/her friends in near real-time when 25 million users are watching a live match on Hotstar. These notifications can be informing two friends when both join the same content, an invitation to watch a video together or chat with each other. This talk will focus on how we at Hotstar leveraged Kafka and Spark to generate a billion such messages and notifications on the fly to bring users closer to their friends & engage them while passively consuming content.
Speakers: Kuldeep Rishi (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kuldeeprishi/) and Subhojit Dutta (https://www.linkedin.com/in/subhojit-dutta-712319ba/)

Topic: Gojek Beast - A Kafka to Google Big Query persistence service
At gojek, we built a tool to push data from Kafka to Bigquery.
In this presentation, we will talk about how we will talk about how we decided to come up with a custom solution to push data to bigquery, the architecture, how to manage changes in bigquery schema and learnings with the product.
Speaker: Dinesh Kumar (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dinesh-kumar/),
Rajat Goyal (https://www.linkedin.com/in/rajat404/)

Topic: Kafka Connect @ Hotstar
At Hotstar, we love Kafka connect! It is our single medium of the flow of information from our applications to our analytics use-cases. Over 1000 connectors spread across 10 different connect clusters are the pipes for the data flowing in & out of Hotstar's data-platform, Bifrost. This talk will discuss our experiences with Kafka connect, our challenges while working with popular connectors like Confluent S3 Connector & Debezium, and how a connect-first philosophy helps us scale our data-platform for Hotstar's use-cases.
Speaker: Navgeet Agrawal (https://www.linkedin.com/in/navgeetagrawal/)
---------------
Topic: Building a custom Apache Solr and Kafka connector
Kafka Connect can make it easy to build pipelines with Kafka and complete your event streaming. Connectors ecosystem is a super important thing to make this happen. This talk will explain how to go about building one from scratch by using Apache Solr -> Kafka as an example
