Ride to Puducherry (Pondicherry)

What's going on Riders? I know it's been a while since you've seen events organized by me. But the last month has kept me really busy. Team BCG had been to Tirupati earlier this month for their longest ride, yet. We are now here to break that record! Join us in conquering Pondicherry!

Route Map:

This is a COMPLETELY SELF SUPPORTED RIDE. THERE IS ONLY A LUGGAGE VEHICLE, to carry your luggage. The riders have to book their return bus journey tickets on THEIR OWN. You can choose between returning on Saturday / Sunday from Pondicherry, depending upon your convenience. Hotel accommodation at Thiruvannamalai will be provided for those individuals who confirm their attendance and pay before 20th August.

The return journey is by bus. Should you opt for the bus leaving Pondi on 30th night, you will be in Bangalore by 31st Morning (Sunday). Else you can leave Pondi on 31st night and reach Bangalore on Monday morning)

Overall, you'll be looking at a budget of INR3000 (Including the return bus journey)

Option 4b2: Arcot-Arani-Chetpet-Gingee (upto Gingee NH4)-Pondi: 144 kms – Bit of uphill near Chetpet (Need to ascertain road condition)
For cyclist pot holes doesn't matter (we can navigate thro it) unless the road is full of gravel
Let's decide on the option based on total distance and road condition

Update: Here are some options along with distance n road conditions for us to decide.. while doing so we need to keep in mind that evry extra 20 kms is extra one hr of riding

Option 1: Bangalore-Krishnagiri-uthangarai-Chengam-Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Pondi: 307 kms (bad roads + road expansion for about 100 kms between Krishnagiri to Tiruvannamali)
Option 2: Bangalore-Krishnagiri-Bargur-Tirupathur-(join back regular route after uthangarai)-Chengam-Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Pondi: 323 kms (can avoid bad roads for about 45 kms of the 100 kms)
Option 3: Bangalore-Kolar-Vellore-Arcot-Arani-Chetpet-Gingee (upto Gingee NH4)-Pondi: 365 kms (awesome road upto arcot, do not know after that)
      Option 4a: Bangalore-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Ambur-Vellore-Arcot: 232 kms (Vry good roads – 4 lane)
Option 4b1: Arcot-Cheyyar-Vandavasi-Tindivanam (upto Tindivanam NH5)-Pondi : 141 kms – Bit of ups and downs (Need to ascertain road condition)

Option 4b2: Arcot-Arani-Chetpet-Gingee (upto Gingee NH4)-Pondi: 144 kms – Bit of uphill near Che

    Train Details: 16574/Puducherry-Yesvantpur weekly Express

    Arrives @ 08:00 (Yeshwantpur)

Currently, there are 384 seats in Second Class, and 88 & 44 in AC 3- and 2-tier respectively.

Bicycles can be booked as luggage and can be carried on the same train back to B'lore.

Passengers booking their accommodation in advance
are permitted to book their luggage in advance at the same time.

Luggage which is required to travel by the same train with the owner should be presented at the luggage office of the booking station at least 30 minutes before the advertised departure time of the train.
