Loy Krathong Festival 2024: Make Your Own Krathong & Explore the Temple Fair

What is Loy Krathong?
Loy Krathong is one of Thailand's most beautiful and widely celebrated festivals. It typically takes place on the full moon night of the 12th month in the Thai lunar calendar, which usually falls in November.

What is Krathong?
The word Loy means "to float," and Krathong refers to a small, decorated boat made from banana leaves, flowers, candles, and incense. During the festival, people gather by rivers, lakes, or canals to float their krathongs, symbolizing the letting go of bad luck, sins, and negative emotions, as well as making wishes for good fortune and happiness in the coming year.

What is Temple Fair?
A Temple Fair (Ngaan Wat) in Thailand is a traditional, festive event held at or near a Buddhist temple (wat). These fairs are deeply rooted in Thai culture and are often organized as part of religious celebrations or important temple anniversaries. They provide a unique mix of spirituality, local culture, and entertainment, attracting people from all walks of life.

Itinerary - กำหนดการ
6:15 PM
Meet at Sanam Chai MRT, Exit 5, and we’ll take a ferry from Rajinee Pier to Prannok Pier together (16 Baht). The ferry ride takes about 15 minutes along the Chao Phraya River, passing by the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) and the Grand Palace. Alternatively, you can go directly to the Tha Ploook Co-working Space, where the event will start at 6:30 PM.
