Dear Members,

Good morning. This is to inform you that I will remove non-participating or dormant members in this group VERY SOON. It's been noticed that membership in this community has grown so fast these past years, but participation is still sustained by very few regular volunteers who joined us earlier. Your account will be removed in the following listed conditions below:

- You are NOT in the volunteer list http://bangkokvolunte... AND you no longer visited this community for MORE THAN 10 MONTHS.

- You are NOT in the volunteer list http://bangkokvolunte... AND you have History of NO-SHOWS and NO-REPLIES. We recorded them and can be seen only by organizers on the attendance stats of your profile, and you know that for sure.

- You are NOT in the volunteer list http://bangkokvolunte... AND/OR you have NO PROPER NAME or PROFILE PICTURE. Kindly provide us with identification or simply your name, and not with photos of hot models (chicks/dudes), animals, cartoon or any objects that you downloaded from the web, or from your hard drive.

Anyone who joined our previous events (paid or non-paid) are considered Volunteers from this community. It is seen on their profile Title declared both in Meetup and on the website.

NOTE: DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSONALLY.

We schedule activities based on the partner organization’s time, location and availability, and not for someone else’s convenience. We woke-up early in the morning, got tired the whole day, shared few amounts from our earnings, and all these years it created great moments to remember. We didn’t just sit and watched the world as it spins its episodes, we worked.

To all the Volunteers of this group, a huge thanks for all the support. And to all of you who left Thailand and still keep their membership here, thank you also for this consideration even if you couldn’t join us in our events anymore.

To all the Members, if you do not wish to receive massive amount of emails (especially if you’re a member of more than 15 meetup groups), you can always change your communication settings by simply going to the upper right corner of the group page: My Profile > Email & Notifications, then checkout some boxes depending on your choices. You have to do this on each Meetup group that you joined.

This email will be sent again on any coming weeks as a reminder. We will provide a short and precise Thai language version too for all local volunteers. If you decided to leave the group, it’s ok. We will not take it personally as well, and this prudence on your part will be respected and appreciated in this community.

We can always make time if we want and there are many things to do out there. Enjoy your weekend!

Removal of non-participating & dormant group members - 2nd Notice
(Sent March 23, 2016)

Dear Members,

Good afternoon. This is to inform you that the 1st Round of membership trimming for this community has been done already, from the previous 2,936 to the latest 1,429. Those who didn't visit this group for more than 10 MONTHS were removed and given an advice with reference to my email sent last week http://bit.ly/25lFXO8...

Soon, members who are not in this list http://bangkokvolunte...
and made history of NO-SHOWS and NO-REPLIES in their profiles will be removed.

This is also an opportune time for everyone to change their NAMES and PROFILE PICTURES for proper identification, otherwise you will be removed too. I can no longer imagine myself sending a message to a lamp post, a book or a tea cup every time they signed-up on an event. Or anyone who's names are like shoka23t, uh-oh-ah, uhmm$% or zzzzz. You wouldn't want that names to appear on volunteer certificates for sure. Please be discreet on this.

Thanks and cheers!

Removal of inactive members:
1. You haven't volunteered since the day you joined and you're not in this link: Bangkok Volunteers and you no longer visited this site for 8 months

We can never make things happen if we're only trying to find time, we need to make time. If we set certain conditions above our intentions to help, then just simply return a favor to anyone who did good recently to you. Charity isn't trade.

Thank you.

This community will downsize its membership again and will remove NON-PARTICIPATING members who are not in this link ->Bangkok Volunteers and no longer visited this group for....

and the reason for doing this is because we need to make the distance between the blue and red trend a bit narrower soon. Please check the negligible image below:

This is supposed to be a volunteer working group, not simply a membership or eventually forgotten-upon-date-of-membership group. We appreciate for your kind understanding in this matter.

Thank you

Update as of 10 March 2017

Dear Members,

This is our usual reminder of the group's removal of dormant and non-participating members.

It is important to READ the event's details before signing up on RSVP. The details give you a glimpse the day's activities and the preceding similar events so not to surprise you with knackering workload, or burst sadden any of your high expectations. This is a working group not just a casual membership social meetup community. To know more about our group, please visit this URL

Tips on how to RSVP, we have some keypoints HERE

We support NGOs who normally charge for every activity on weekends only. There are cost involved particularly if there's a travel and requires an advance payment. Check this LINK to know more if you want to volunteer and not pay a cent at all. You can contact those organizations anytime (Mercy Centre, PAWS and Foundation for Slum).

Our volunteering with Baan Gerda is a group initiative, they never require a fee as they don't actually invite volunteers which is stated in their website HERE. The cost posted in the event is a contribution for those people going, and is limited. Our support to the children were brought by mutual trust established since 4 years ago.

Please do NOT take this personally. Since this is a volunteer working group, it's definitely not reasonable to keep a huge amount of members who never participated at all, with history of no-shows, no-replies, chronic bailouts and no longer visited the group in 6 months. So if you're not listed in this PAGE, you're not a volunteer yet ;)

Looking forward for your kind understanding on this and enjoy the weekend :)

Keeping the usual 6-months of absence and non-participation in any events (social dinners and volunteer getaways not counted), the dormant members will be trimmed again to give way to new membership requests. We all know that our time and effort are enough to give back to the society but since most of the events here requires travel, we, and the organizations that we support are asking for some few amounts of contributions particularly for the transportation, tools needed, food, gifts and other costs that needs replenishment to sustain a project.

Our events primarily with Baandinthai involves environment preservation / conservation, building or school painting and with this we always need to book our seats in advance. There are other volunteer networks in Bangkok where participants are sourced so we normally limit the seats to 10-12 heads.

Our group initiative, supporting an orphan home Baan Gerda in Lopburi, we request participants for a contribution to cover the cost of the day's activities and we imposed this cost, not the organization. The cost is for the van rent going to and from the place, prizes and gifts for the games, food for the children and volunteers and few amount of donation for the foster mothers. To know more about volunteering with Baan Gerda, please take time to read this POST

Other events like notebook making with Paper Ranger, bag and t-shirt painting with Thai Volunteer Service, the participation costs can be handed on the event day.

We also support other organizations depending on their invitations, mostly occasionally and not on a regular basis compared to the above mentioned activities. Hence, our community requests a discretion on RSVP or simply a reply to any message confirming participation. Similar to other meetup groups which observes courtesy from their members, we also remove anyone who made habitual "No-Shows" and "No-Reply" to our events, particularly those that require planning. We ignore those who habitually bail-out.

However, you can visit these organizations to support but on a weekday basis and requires commitment:

1. Mercy Centre (English teaching on weekdays, requires commitment)
2. Foundation for Slum Child Care (Looking after kids 0-5 yrs old in child centers in various slums in Bangkok on day time, on weekdays only)
3. Duang Prateep Foundation (English teaching on weekdays, requires commitment)
4. Khlong Toey Music Program (for locals, teaching music for children in local slum area)
5. PAWS Cat Shelter (weekdays on cat shelter, weekends on Bangkok Farmers Market)

It's very important to READ the event's details before signing-up on RSVP. We update participants from time to time to confirm their attendance. You don't need to explain, it's just switching the "Yes" to "No". For more help how to use Meetup social media, please visit this PAGE.

Why dormant members are being removed from the group? As I mentioned on my previous thread, our community used to have 2900+ members and yet very few participates. So it's been decided in fairness to those who worked and still keep working to sustain this community, we trimmed it to keep only those who visited this page within 6 months.

In this meetup group, a volunteer is valued and highly appreciated because they stand out from the society norm of endless chase of taking and not giving.

Most of our activities require work ranging from adobe house building, planting mangroves, mentoring arts and english and to sum-up, they are not easy at all.

To get the latest events in our calendar, you will receive an email message from this group inviting your interest to join. So if you have more than 10 meetup groups and missing our email, please check your spam folder and maybe our message could be residing there. Apparently no one in this community will ask you personally to join the events, you only need to check your emails. You express your interest by simply signing up on the RSVP, but your willingness to make your interest happen is only when you confirmed and joined the event. If you joined this community for some other purpose but to help, then you're here for a wrong reason. Nobody in this group benefits your effort, your time and mostly the cost that you pay for every event; out there it's the environment that is preserved, the underprivileged society, the sick, and mostly the children are enjoying such generosities on your part.

We very enthusiastically hope for your understanding on this group guidelines and it is never personal. Giving back is something we do for the society, and in which could possibly affect us personally. If we stick to our objective and that is to help, what matter is not what we deserve in return, it's what we believe. Ask yourself a question, what is your belief about volunteering?
